Hey, you guys, I’m back with my baby on my hip. I left that pimp, St. James. I just had his baby.,I promise my baby will have it all; from hell to hot water, I won’t give no pimp my money again. I’m a veteran now. I don’t have to have a pimp to make money on the track. I told myself that I was not going down on Auburn Avenue because I was going to have to have a pimp down now. They run Renegade hos away, and they know I’m not with James, so I’m going to stay away from Auburn Avenue. I’m going to hit that Stewart Avenue even though I don’t want to.
I remembered what them hos said about Stewart Avenue when they went over there. They don’t have trick houses. One of the girls got in the car with a trick. He said he was taking her to fuck his dog. She said she did not see that damn dog in the back on the floor, like he was trained to hide. We laughed like hell on the track that day. She said she had to jump out of that car. She was all scraped up and bleeding all over; she was black and blue. We started looking at her healed up scars that’s going to be with her for life. Then she said they dated in Kroger parking lot. I wasn’t planning on getting in the car with anybody or dating anyone, if I could help it.
I snapped out of it and called an old cab driver friend of mine named Chico. He said, I had some dates for you, but I didn’t know where you were.
He said, Give me an hour because I’m downtown, waiting on Cat.
I said, Cat with you?
He said, Yep.
I asked how she was doing. He said, She just making it one day at a time.
See, a trick that hangs on Auburn Avenue fell in love with a ho; when he saw her pimp hitting her, he shot her pimp to death. The trick still locked up; they gave him life. I saw him one time when I went to visit my nephew, who was locked up as well.
I started getting my daughter, Shan, ready for school for the next five days because I knew I was going to be busy. So I bathed her and gave the baby to my sister to put to sleep. My sister is older than me. I told her that I would pay her when I got back. When I was finished bathing Shan, I heard a horn blow. My sister said, It’s a cab outside.
My sister and her husband stayed at the house now because Mom could hardly breathe; she couldn’t walk all the time like she used to up and down the hallway. My sister took care of her now. Hell, she took care of all of us—my two girls, her three boys, her husband, and my mom. Don’t know what we will do without her. She just had a baby eight months ago, so our babies are almost the same age.
So I got in the cab with Chico, and the first thing he said was, How is the baby, and what is her name?
