    HISTORY OF JOHANN SEBASTIAN Bach

    Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 29th, 1685. At the time, Germany was still divided into dozens of small states or kingdoms. As such, music in this region was largely the preserve of royalty and members of the upper classes. In some countries, such as France, a common folk culture did exist and composers often aimed to capture that spirit in their music. Bach was born in Eisenach in the German state of Thuringia. His father worked as a clergyman and his mother also played an important role in helping to raise Johann Sebastian as a child. While he had no formal training as an instrument player,
