Finding Your Value - Carlos Velazco
INTRODUCTION
A close up of a piece of paper Description automatically generatedDo you possess value? Are you confident that your life, career, relationships, and everything else that goes on around you, has that one intangible thing that is so seldom sought to be attained?
Unlike success, which many people seek, and most of us can readily explain that value is a more subtle commodity which is not always visible at first. It can be seen in the generosity we may bestow upon a stranger or someone in need. It could be found in the respect that we show to others or gain from our own endeavours. Or it could be within the creativity and innovation we display when faced with a challenge that may at first seem to be insurmountable.
Creating value in our lives gives us more than just the big house, a healthy bank balance, nice car, or luxury vacations that success brings. Value provides us with a prosperity that is far greater and in other ways that are not always obvious or clear.
To know your own value, you must first know yourself and your purpose here on Earth. Armed with that knowledge, you can then set about creating the life you were born to live, complete with the value that will be built along the way.
That is the purpose of this book; to show you how to create the value in your life, in addition to the material successes -- a journey of value providing prominent guidance and encouragement, making your life better, and making it easier for you to make sense of the world around you. It teaches things like perseverance, fortitude, responsibility, growth, compassion, and a dozen other attributes that all go toward building the value in your life that will be with you always.
This is a book with a compelling message, a gem that proves to be a lesson for all with richness in the spirit that everyone needs to hear. It is a book that gives you an exact answer when you need a continuance, as well as a new chance to grow. It is more of an inspiring journey as it takes you through different spheres of life, shaping and moulding you to be a person of value, delivering value at your disposal.
A life of value is a life of purpose, a life of service, and a life of impact.
This book will make you view success in a new way and contains multiple scripture verses and wonderful interpretations which are inspiring and meditative, giving you time to ingrain them into your heart and soul. There is a reflective table for you to assess yourself and get answers from the life you are leading. The professional and expressive illustrations provide guidance, which is inspiring and uplifting. The plot is creative, and the acronyms in the book are words to be carried in your heart everywhere, as they are easy to understand and memorize.
With it, you will prosper in many ways, enriching your life and the lives of those closest to you in the process. You will learn how to make the most of the time you have, to lay the foundations of your life to come, build strong and lasting relationships, and to understand that everything is possible, no matter what others may tell you.
This book will also give you the necessary drive to achieve your goals, live a purposeful life, develop a personal relationship with the Lord, and continually seek Him to energize you with His power, shedding light on your inspirations and insights.
Take your time reading over this book. Its name speaks for itself, and it provides a value all of its own that will set you on a path to something much more significant than simple success. Happy reading.

THE POWER OF VALUE
A close up of a piece of paper Description automatically generatedSuccess is achieving your purpose. Tremendous success is doing it really well.
Although I did not know it at the time, my journey into the world of value started way back when I was still in primary school.
At that time, I found that every time I came home with my report card and I had scored a very high mark, I was applauded for my performance. This made me want to continue to do well. I did not realise the importance of what I was doing, not for myself, at any rate. I was just pleased that my parents and teachers were pleased.
What was most interesting was the fact that I actually enjoyed learning. I was deriving enjoyment from the activities that brought about learning, even though this was not exactly the behaviour expected of a primary school child. I would devour books and other materials that could bring knowledge to me even at that very young age. I am talking about when I was less than ten years old.
My reading appetite well and truly whetted, I developed a thirst for knowledge. I found out, even as young as I was, that the more I read, the more knowledgeable I became. That was how learning began for me. When I went into secondary school, I carried on excelling in my academics. I continued to do well and was regularly within the top set in my class.
Surprisingly, I soon found that I was no longer contented with any position below the top three positions. So, while I continued to learn, I was no longer just learning for the fun of it, which is what I had been doing when I was still in primary school. I now wanted to do well for me, and not just for the grades either. By this time, I had learnt that there were other perks in life for doing well beyond pleasing parents and teachers. I had learnt that one’s performance determined the schools or universities you were able to attend, the courses you could study, and the career path you could follow, not to mention the kind of income you could earn. For me, the position of the goal post had significantly shifted.
Leadership
Back in primary school, I was a school prefect; and then, at secondary school, I was appointed a school prefect as well. Both times, I had no idea why I had been appointed a school prefect. It was not until later on in life that I came to discover that there were qualities that I embodied and which people saw, even though I did not recognise them myself at the time. All I knew was that I was often put in charge of things and people.
I soon graduated from secondary school and went to the University, and there also, the trend which had begun at primary school and continued through my secondary school years, was prevalent as well.
I was getting noticed for all the right reasons, and this was good. I went on to study Engineering at the university and was the only female in my class. Another lady who had started at the same time as me later left.
I was elected as the president of my departmental students’ association. For me, the students’ association presidency was not something I had planned to do. However, when it came to the time for the elections to be held, some people came to me and said, "You know, we think you can and should
