A Primer on Classroom Management
()
About this ebook
This was my 38th year as a publc school teacher and I had a class that I couldn't control, much less teach. Of course, I was on summative and better find someway to improve classroom management. I never thought I could completely change the climate of my class in mid-year by using student engagement techniques. After all, there wasn't any professional development that clearly showcased how to go about it! I proud to say, I took a risk and it paid off!

A Primer on Classroom Management - Joseph Warren Brown
Dedication:
This handout is dedicated to Mrs. June Lightfoot, who was the principal at Willoughby Elementary School in Norfolk, Virginia, and is passionate about teaching and learning for all. She had insisted I research student engagement,
so I could show improvement in classroom management and instruction. Now, she knew nothing about it, only something she had heard about in one of her monthly meetings. Believe me, I had to dig deep, to find out what I could and then develop a plan to improve classroom management and instruction. I WAS SUCCESSFUL!
Update: Willoughby Elementary School, one of the best in the state, has become a Pre-K school. However, this primer book still offers effective teaching strategies and how to create a positive environment for ALL learners.
