    here is a dark side to every human. Whether you are aware of it or not, you are being subjected to countless manipulations every single day. With that said, it can be difficult to recognize these negative influences. While some are bold and obvious, others are subtle and devious.

    This is being mentioned not to alarm you, but to prepare you. While you can try to fight something that you cannot understand, such battles do not often end in victory. In fact, trying to solve issues that you do not comprehend can leave you confused and uncertain. Even worse, you can make yourself vulnerable to even more mental hazards than before. Knowledge is your greatest weapon against these threats.

    Failure to counter the manipulations of others can lead to a downward spiral in your life rife with anxiety, self-doubt, depression, and more. Additionally, in the worst cases, it will not end there. All spirals have a lowest level, which is where self-harm, abusive tendencies, and even suicide, as well as homicide, can be found. Do not let things progress to this point, as the further down the spiral you are, the harder it is to climb out of it.     PROTECTING YOURSELF

    n every situation, avoiding problems is a far more efficient way of dealing with difficulties than trying to solve them. The best way to recognize threats is to analyze their potential sources. Most often, the sources of such concerns are other people. There are key things to look out for when investigating possible issues.

    There is a quartet of dark personality types that you should be especially wary of in all scenarios. These are people who display signs of narcissism, psychopathy, Machiavellianism, and sadism. Such traits lead individuals of the Dark Tetrad to put their interests above yours at any cost.

    Once you identify the potential origins of emotional and mental hazards, you can stop them from sinking their claws into you. There are multiple ways of doing so, which can let anyone protect themselves effectively. You need to choose the method that is right for you based on your personality and the situation in which you are involved.

    How to Analyze People

    Simply trying to guess what someone is thinking will not help you very much. To truly look into a human’s mind, you should use methods that are tried and true. The FBI, whose job it is to identify criminals and other harmful individuals, has a series of techniques that they use to dissect suspects. While they are not the only official group that performs such tasks, they are one of the most prevalent and efficient. Therefore, you can use their techniques as the basis for your analytic procedures.

    A good place to start would be to figure out what is a person’s normal behavior. This involves taking note of their mannerisms and speech patterns. Everyone subconsciously makes gestures, such as cracking their knuckles or adjusting their hair. Once you learn what a human’s common mannerisms are, you can more easily identify when they start making gestures that are not normal for them. When people start acting differently than they usually do, it is a sign that something is going on with them. This is not always a cause for concern on your part, but it can be.

    You can probe for more information without ever directly confronting anyone. If fact, it is always better to avoid letting a person know that you have identified their usual mannerisms, as this can cause them to actively mask their movements to throw you off. It is possible to discover someone’s normal gestures by casually mentioning things that pertain to their interests. Their gestures at that point will be similar to how they act when they are trying to get something from you. Desire is desire, regardless of how it manifests.

    Take stock of many such gestures to put together a mental profile of someone’s behavior. You do not need to take detailed notes, just pay attention to how a person reacts in various normal situations. The more mannerisms you can identify, the easier it will be to notice changes.
