Bedtime Stories To Dream Big, Volume 2 - Gumption Commander

    From Fear to Confidence

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Lily. Lily was six years old and loved to play outside. She loved to run and play tag with her friends. However, there was one thing that Lily was afraid of – swimming.

All of her friends knew how to swim, but Lily didn't. She was afraid of the water and didn't like to put her face in it. Lily's parents tried to teach her how to swim, but she would always cry and ask to get out of the pool.

One hot summer day, Lily's parents took her to the community pool. She was excited to play in the water, but still afraid to swim. As she was playing with her friends, she accidentally fell into the deep end of the pool.

Lily started to panic and thrash around in the water. She didn't know what to do. Suddenly, she heard a voice from the side of the pool. It was her swimming instructor, Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson had been watching Lily and knew that she was afraid of the water.

Don't worry, Lily, Mrs. Johnson said calmly. I'm here to help you.

Mrs. Johnson jumped into the pool and swam over to Lily. She told her to hold onto her back and started to swim her over to the side of the pool.

At first, Lily was still scared, but as she held onto Mrs. Johnson's back, she started to feel more comfortable in the water. Mrs. Johnson encouraged her and told her that she could do it.

Finally, they made it to the side of the pool. Lily was shaking and scared, but she had done it. Mrs. Johnson gave her a big hug and told her how proud she was of her.

After that day, Lily started taking swimming lessons with Mrs. Johnson. At first, it was scary and hard, but with practice, she started to get better. She learned how to float, kick, and even dive.

One day, Lily was at the pool with her friends. They were all swimming and having fun. Lily's friends started to race each other across the pool. They asked Lily if she wanted to join in.

Lily took a deep breath and said, Yes! She jumped into the water and started to swim. Her friends cheered her on as she made it to the other side of the pool. Lily felt proud of herself and knew that she had overcome her fear of the water.

From then on, Lily loved to swim. She felt free and happy in the water. She knew that it was okay to be scared of something, but with practice and help from others, she could overcome her fears.

    The Nighttime Animal Kingdom

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Jack. Jack was six years old and loved to play during the day, but at night, he was afraid of the dark. He would often wake up in the middle of the night, scared and alone in the darkness of his room.

One night, Jack's parents noticed that he was not sleeping well. They asked him what was wrong, and he told them that he was scared of the dark. His parents tried to comfort him by giving him a night light, but it didn't help.

One day, Jack's mom took him to the library. They found a book about a boy who was afraid of the dark, just like Jack. The boy in the book learned to overcome his fear by imagining that the shadows in his room were friendly animals that wanted to play.

Jack's mom read the book to him, and he loved it. That night, when it was time to go to bed, Jack tried to imagine that the shadows in his room were friendly animals. At first, he was still scared, but then he started to feel braver.

As he lay in bed, Jack imagined that the shadow on his wall was a friendly lion. He imagined that the shadow by his closet was a playful monkey. And he imagined that the shadow on his ceiling was a beautiful bird.

With each shadow, Jack started to feel less scared and more brave. He started to see the shadows as his friends, and he wasn't scared anymore.

From then on, Jack loved going to bed. He would say goodnight to his shadow friends and fall asleep peacefully. He had overcome his fear of the dark.

Solving the Unsolved: Mia's Mathematical Breakthrough

Mia was a bright and curious girl who loved to learn new things. One day, Mia's teacher, Ms. Brown, handed out a math worksheet to the class. Mia loved math and was excited to solve the problems on the worksheet.

However, when Mia got to the last problem, she didn't understand it. It was a word problem, and it was very confusing. Mia read the problem over and over again, but she couldn't figure it out. She raised her hand and asked Ms. Brown for help.

Ms. Brown came over to Mia's desk and read the problem. This is a tough one, Mia, Ms. Brown said. But I know you can do it. Just take your time and think it through.

Mia didn't want to give up. She knew that she could solve the problem if she just tried hard enough. She thought about the problem and wrote down some numbers on her paper.

But the more she thought, the more confused she became. She started to feel frustrated and upset. She crumpled up her paper and put her head down on her desk.

Ms. Brown noticed that Mia was having a hard time. She came over and put her hand on Mia's shoulder. It's okay to feel frustrated, Mia, Ms. Brown said. "But remember, you
