About this ebook

I tried to communicate the human side of some of Christ's disciples. Too many of us think of these guys as saints. Although they did amazing and miraculous things for the kingdom of God, they were as ordinary as you and me until their encounter with Jesus Christ. Then and only then were they able to accomplish what they did for the Lord. My prayer is that when you read this book, you might realize that you, too, can have the same power the disciples had to reach people in your sphere of influence. After all, we have the same spirit and serve the same God--the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of the Bible.

    About the Author

    Introduction

Some time ago I was having one of those days. I think it's safe to say we've all had one of those days where we're not feeling too particularly close to God. In my case, I had pushed him away because he was calling me to do something and I didn't want to listen. On this particular day, I was feeling uneasy and kind of uncomfortable. I started thinking about what God was calling me to do. And I felt unprepared, unworthy, and certainly unqualified. After all, I'm just an ordinary guy with a high school diploma and an ordinary job. I was totally giving God what I call the Moses syndrome. You know, that's where we give God a list of reasons it's not a good idea for us to do what he's asking us to do.

You see, a while back, I was reading my Bible. And I had this thought: If twelve ordinary men could make the kind of impact on the world that Jesus's disciples made, what kind of impact can twelve ordinary people from every Bible-believing church in America make on the world today? That's when I felt God's spirit urging me to write a book. Well, I had no background (or desire) to write a book. I had no education on how to write a book. I had no clue how to write a book or what to write in it! For the next several months, God began to give me some thoughts that I began to write down. Before I knew it, I had pages of thoughts written down. That's when that particular day rolled around. Journaling thoughts and writing a book are two different things, I said. Or are they? Well, I decided to give up on my will and submit to God's (not without some bumps and hurdles along the way and submitting my will to his daily)—hence the reason for this book.

This book is for the believer first, but it is also for the unbeliever—just ordinary folks who feel that they are unprepared, unworthy, and unqualified to answer God's call as I did. If you are a nonbeliever, God's call on your life is to start a relationship with him through his Son, Jesus Christ. At any time during the reading of this book, if you would like to start that relationship, there is a prayer in the back of the book that you can pray with a sincere heart. And you
