About this ebook
All creatures, great or small, are created with the instinct to survive. Parents may teach them how and where to find food and once learned they are out on their own. Malachi has learned the lessons and is out searching for food. When it grows dark, he does not know what is happening until he finds himself in the midst of a hard rain. He scurries to find shelter and runs into a hard wall. Following along the wall he comes to the entrance of a church. Here he finds a home and place to find food. Sometimes in his quest for food he encounters frightful circumstances. A sweet girl comes to his rescue and he becomes her pet.

He was as carefree as the spring breeze that blew through the belfry. He had the run of the church and scurried back and forth at will.
But it had not always been so. As a half-grown-gray-brown mouse, he flitted here and there through the grass in the field. He was always searching for seeds to fill his hungry stomach.
One day, he was very busy and did not notice the black clouds rolling in. When it became very dark, he thought, My, that was a short day. I’ll have to find a place to sleep, and I’m still hungry. Only when lightning flashed and thunder rumbled across the sky did he realize that he was in the midst of a storm.
