The Story of My Salvation recalls the main events I experienced in early 1984 during a time of intense spiritual hunger and thirst: my being nearly brainwashed by the Watch Tower Tract and Bible Society or Jehovah's Witnesses; how I became born-again during this time of seeking and comparing religions; and my subsequent deliverance from their clutches by the supernatural intervention of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God, a gripping vision of the born-again experience, a visitation from the third person of the Trinity, and the good counsel of other true believers. It concludes with my being baptized in the Holy Spirit as described in the Book of Acts in the early church.

Part 2: 1985–1997—Wandering in the Wilderness

Introduction

There are as many stories of salvation as there are the people that have gotten saved. This is just one of them. This is my story.

This was the season full of praise and wonder at the glory of God and of what He could and would do. Nothing else seemed to matter except the Word, church services, and prayer. Going to work, sleeping, and food were fillers in the day. It was great when I woke up and found myself in praise to the Lord of Hosts.

Bishop Norman A. Parren would often encourage us at the close of a service at Inspirational Temple Holiness Church of God. He would exclaim, Satan is defeated, God is exalted, and Jesus is Lord!

I would meditate this statement repeatedly until I awakened into a spiritual high. As I chanted it, I felt like I was in an agitator—in a washing machine that spun around faster as I repeated the phrase. It was as if it went around so fast that it spun loose and catapulted me at an incredible speed into the second heaven. There, the stars, planets, moon, sun, asteroids, and quasars abide. Up there is also the throne of the power of the air, Satan!

As I floated along the expanse of outer space, listening to the quiet, hollow sound of deep space and watching shooting stars and asteroids fly past me, I suddenly felt the devil approach me.

He asked me, What are you doing up here?

I could not see him in the dark of space, but I could sense his presence. As I pondered his question, he began to play on my fears.

You know you scared of heights. You have nothing holding you up here! You are going to fall back down to earth and break every bone in your body!

As I could hear him laugh, I remembered that I was at a very dizzying height—I was floating in space! I felt as if I was experiencing vertigo, weightlessness, and loss of balance. At that moment, the Holy Spirit within me began to stir and aroused me to boldness.

I told the devil, It was the power of Jesus Christ that brought me here, and his power will safely sustain me and return me homeward, that is, back earthward.

Instantly, he just disappeared in fear. It was not fear of me or what I had said. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw and felt another presence approaching.

A golden light, fluid like oil, slowly moved toward me. The whole vacuum of space began to brighten as it was coming. This golden light moving toward me was incredibly bright and intense. The darkness of space began to recede.

I know that no one can look upon God and live. Yet I knew this was Him. Even if the presence approaching was only the shadow of His shadow.

As it came closer, I was overwhelmed with unspeakable joy. My heart began to beat extraordinarily fast, and my body began to vibrate with intensity as if I would explode. And just as quickly as it flowed toward me, the oily golden light began to recoil and back away. As it did, my heartbeat returned to normal, and the excitement stopped.

In my spirit, I heard the Lord say, I can’t come any closer, or you will die. Your fleshly body cannot stand to be in the presence of my pure essence. But one day, you will have a glorified
