The Judge Is Coming - Georgia Gorham-Brockman

    Divine Warning

Do you heed a warning when it’s given?

Matthew 3:7 Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

A parent warns a child of possible danger of becoming lost when out camping, and insists the son or daughter stay close by. The parks put up signs to not go beyond a certain point into restricted areas, where people might fall. Roads are closed when there is high water across them. Construction workers are required to wear hard hats, to avoid being hurt by falling objects in working zones. Kids and motorcyclists are required by law to wear helmets when riding bikes. And the list goes on and on.

Warnings are meant to make people aware of possible danger and to protect them from what could happen. God has done no less by sending warnings of what will occur when He sends judgment on the evil that has overtaken His planet and His people.

Because God is love (1 John 4:8), He has extended numerous warnings to alert people and given them a chance to change. His divine compassion moved Him to warn us of what is ahead and to alert us to be prepared. His desire is to prevent individuals from eternal suffering. Such love, real God love, desires to relieve man’s suffering, not contribute to it. We need to heed the warnings given in love.

In advance, God has sent many warnings that the Judge is coming! The messengers of God have prophesied again and again that the Judge is coming in power and glory to reclaim His own territory and His people. Warnings have gone out to notify in advance what will happen when the wrath of God is poured out. The sky will be rolled back like a scroll, and in a twinkle of an eye, all will be changed. The promise of His return will soon be fulfilled. The day of Judgment is near.

    Points to Ponder

    Warnings make people aware—acknowledge them.

The Judge is coming to reclaim what is rightfully His.

God is faithful to His Word.

    The Appointed Time

Are you aware of the signs of the end of time and history itself?

Matthew 16:3 Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times?

A person’s word is as good as the actions that result from what is said. It is better to not make a promise unless you plan to carry it out. Too often someone will say they can be counted on but fail to back their word by performance. Thus the person they hurt will probably not trust their word again. But God can be counted on for His word is concrete—He means what He says.

God has an appointed time established for His judgment on mankind to be carried out. Further, His Son, Christ Jesus, has promised to return, and His appearance will be fulfilled at the exact right time. He will honor His promise to come back for His people, for He never breaks His word (John 14:2–3).

The Scriptures say The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). God is patient and shows mercy in waiting, but how much longer do you think God will be patient with ungodly men and women? Since the truth of God has been given in the Holy Word, mankind is without excuse. This very truth will find them guilty of sin in their life if they don’t repent (John 12:48).

Those who fail to listen to the truth and keep living in darkness will be exposed. The Lord said, For my eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity concealed from My eyes (Jeremiah 16:17). Sin abounds, and God is aware of it. The need for judgment is real.

    Points to Ponder

    God’s Judgment will happen.

    Christ Jesus will return.

God has shown mercy in waiting.

    God’s Creation

Have you looked at nature and been able to discern the hand of a mighty Designer?

Job 38:4 Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth.

Nature is a grand display of a marvelous mind at work, providing all we need to live by. Oxygen to breathe. Water to drink. A bountiful food supply to nourish our bodies. Nature is working for our existence—all run by God. The unique harmonious working of nature is a grand testimony of God’s existence. Nothing is by chance!

In the beginning, the heavens and the earth God created were complex, but perfect—fine-tuned. Each part of the universe was made with a specific function to keep the whole system operating properly. God’s creation is glorious—beyond what we could ever imagine, really indescribable by mere words.

The systems of creation are fabulous with a tremendous ability to function unendingly. Nothing wears out. And nature’s excellent and attractive places in the world around us establishes the Creator’s love for beauty. From the tiny ant hill to the vast majestic canyons and mountain ranges, creation proclaims God’s hand at work.

The splendor of the vast universe is just amazing. Even the rainbow arch, after a storm, shows an awesome display of reflected colors, as the sun shines through rain or mist. The rainbow is intended for man’s assurance that God promised not to flood the world again (Genesis 9:11–13). All aspects of our world show a tremendous Designer at work in a marvelous way forming such a creation.

I believe my love for nature—the rivers, the oceans, the mountains, the valleys, the great outdoors, and even mankind—comes from a sense of nearness to God when I’m in those beautiful places. Such sights resound of the greatness of God. Seeing evidence of the vast design in all creation speaks volumes about Almighty God being real, near, and in control. I feel comfortable and protected by that.

The beginning of all living life was created by majestic power and with purpose for it all. Order and efficiency were made to rule. The vegetation, plants, trees, light (sun, moon, stars), sea life, birds, animals, cattle, insects, and beasts, even the seasons—every living thing, including mankind—all came into being by the Originator of life: Almighty God.

After each day of creation, God said it was good. After He concluded with the creation of man, God did a final evaluation of His work and pronounced all He made very good (Genesis 1:31). The land, the sea, the sky, all living creatures, and man were created in orderly fashion. The whole, wonderful universe, full of many galaxies and life, was created perfectly by the one true God—the sovereign ruler of all. God created a good and perfect place, but man defiled it.

Sometimes, it takes a long time for people to admit they need God and allow Him to have control of their lives. The sooner one submits to God, the better, more productive and positive journey he or she will have—minus the wasted years. God has more in mind for each of us than we can even imagine (Jeremiah 29:11). God is also patient, giving us time to learn from our mistakes. Just following Jesus, His Son, is living in God’s presence and becoming aware of our own smallness. We are called to serve a very big God, who sustains the whole universe. We need to learn from nature more about our Creator.

    Points to Ponder

Creation is the work of a mighty Designer.

All created life has a purpose.

There is order in the whole universe, and God is in control.

    A Perfect, New Kingdom

Have you thought about a perfect kingdom as your future dwelling place?

2 Peter 3:13 But according to His promise, we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

Can you imagine what a place called Paradise would be like? Really, a marvelous place that functions perfectly. No flaws, no repairs, nothing lacking. A garden that could be tilled that would result in a plentiful harvest, ready at your fingertips when needed. A peaceful territory, one could stroll in and admire the beauty found there. A Paradise of joy and happiness that would lighten your spirit each time you wandered its paths. Each day at a certain time, you would experience the presence of God, who would simply walk and talk with you. The new kingdom to come will offer such benefits for those who believe.

The Judge is coming to make all things new. He holds the title to earth and will reclaim what Satan conned from Adam and Eve—the first man and woman created by God. He will create a new heaven and a new earth—one with beauty beyond our imagination. It will be a place just like at first—the unblemished earth that contained all things good.

Joy will enfold the new creation along with peace and harmony. Out of God’s perfection, majestic power, love of beauty, and order, God will again create a splendid place for believers after Judgment Day.

God’s original creation was perfect, but earth became damaged with the fall into sin by Adam and Eve. God even cursed the ground, causing man to toil and sweat as he labored (Genesis 17). With the return of the Lord, the beauty of His former creation will finally be restored. Nothing negative and impure will be present as the Creator of the universe reigns in awesome splendor. No poverty, no suffering, no sickness, no disease, and no evil will be allowed in His new kingdom. The Lord’s kingdom will be perfect and whole, and we who believe will be a part of it all.

    Points to Ponder

A perfect new kingdom is coming.

No suffering or sorrow, just perfection will reign.

Believers will be a part of the new world.

    God’s Presence

Have you considered being in the presence of your Creator?

Psalm 139:7 Where can I go from Thy Spirit? Or where can I flee from Thy presence?

Adam, Job, Abraham, Moses, and Joshua were all Old Testament citizens who experienced personally God’s presence during their life’s journey. All were deeply touched by meeting God face to face, for their lives were drastically changed.

Adam lost the daily experience of God’s presence when he disobeyed God and had to leave the Garden of Eden prepared for him (Genesis 3:23). But Job realized what it was really like to encounter God personally from his suffering, experiencing a far more in-depth relationship than what he first thought he knew (Job 42:1–6).

Abraham was commanded by God to move many miles from his former home to a new land, leaving relatives behind. God also spoke directly to Abraham telling him he would have a son to carry on his lineage (Genesis 15:4). After leading the Israelites out of slavery, Moses lost his chance to enter the promised
