About this ebook
This book is about the rescue and survival of a bobcat kitten named Bingham. He was one of three abandoned kittens due to an apparent tragedy for the mother. The nursing skills and care by Vera Jones guaranteed the kitten's survival. Professional diet and veterinary care were also vital keys involved with the bobcat's adaptation to a different habitat. The healthy adaptations continued to promote survival. He lived ten years. Bingham was a very tame bobcat, and everyone respected his boundaries. He enjoyed Gerber 2nd Foods Turkey baby food as a treat. He was always the center of attention at a school function or retirement home or company picnic. And he was an easy traveler. Bingham was a family member along with three dogs and a cat. Bingham was a great treasure.

Bingham, The Bobcat
The adventure began with the bobcat rescue by my parents, Sam and Vera Jones. They owned the Blanchard Rock Shop in Bingham, New Mexico. They bought the shop and its five acres in their retirement years, circa 1963. Sam developed an orchard and small farm community. He also created a rattlesnake exhibit pit in the yard of the shop. Sam was an amateur herpetologist and was always invited to visit ranchers in the area. He was a heavy equipment operator, farmer, hunter, and adventurer. Vera, my mom, was a retired nurse.
In the 1920s, the town of Bingham included a store, a post office, a gas station, and a school in the heart of dryland farm and ranchlands and a lead mining district. Sam and Vera had mining claims in the Hansenberg mining area in the Oscura Mountains. Antelope roam freely in the grasslands, and the sandy arroyos become waterways during the rainy seasons. The high desert climate is home to yucca, cactus, and various other plants. Other animals include the coyote, rabbit, snakes, and even tarantulas. The shop was a very
