The Words of a Wonderin' Soul
()
About this ebook
Also a few times, I would meet a beautiful and wonderful person and fall into a tricky and, often, unstable relationship. But most of the time, I turned to music to ease the pain. And it helped in trying to pick up the broken pieces of my Life. Most of the time, it worked but not all of the situations. In those cases, it only numbed the pain. But this collection of poems is a brief portal into my life.

The Words of a Wonderin' Soul - Matthew McIntosh
The Great Escape
09-21-08
After next week I’ll be broke
Might sell everything I own
Buy a goat and a horse
And run for the mountains
Thought this got easier
As we all got older
But I was wrong it just gets meaner
Far away living with the pain
The great pain and what remain of what we lost
And in our struggle to stay afloat at all cost
Grasping at Straws
09-21-08
Running, running on and on
But never really getting anywhere
Stopping and trying to catch my breath
Just happened to be a disaster
Playing catch up, trying to make up
All the money we’ve lost
This a nightmare, wish I could wake up
We’re reaching for straws
Grasping all the lifeline thrown across
Bu not many are working
They’re all coming out to be nothing but walls
A Single Day
09-21-08
Watching the sun come up
Rising above the horizon
I’m thinking of this better day
Wishing it will be better than yesterday
Yesterday, glad it’s gone and far away
Hoping for the best
Wishing something better comes our way
The sun is going down
I think this one is over now
Better than the last one
Won’t be long and the next will be done
Everyday
09-22-08
Waiting for the telephone to ring
Wiping from my mind all the bad things
Anticipating, anxiously waiting
For my newest way to make it pay
This can’t go on for long
I feel like my life and mind are gone
I’m just trying, trying hard to survive
Counting my pennies, counting the dimes
Looking for a way to pay for my life
All hope seems gone
I’ll keep searching on and on
Thinking
09-22-08
Looking down at the grass
Thinking in my mind, about most of the past
I’m wondering about it all
Guessing more or less
Thinking of the time
Way back inside my mind
When what is gone, was yours and mine
Recalling our victories
Not even dwelling on societies
Pains they put over our eyes
Deep
09-22-08
The sun is setting
The days almost done
I’m still wondering what’s to come
If tomorrow will make me numb
The days are like a clock
Counting down the hours
Sinking like a rock
Unable to sleep
Gazing at the moonlight
Thinking of the rise
Sinking in very, very deep
Better Days
09-22-08
Getting through this time
We’re all wondering on tomorrow
What will and should be
We’re scared about everything real
Dancing through the days
Wondering if people will someday say
The worlds gone astray in the too many ways
We’re trying to find
Happiness in everyone’s minds
We’re hoping for better days
I hope we can find in our time
Yesterday and Tomorrow
09-24-08
I’m wondering around this place
Trying to make a change
But everything’s changing me
That’s not the way it’s supposed to be
I’m searching all around
Trying to find our home
Wondering if we’ll ever be there
Staying up, sleepless nights
Wondering ’bought tomorrow
Just trying to find yesterday and what’s gone
Sleepless
09-25-08
It’s late at night, unable to sleep
I clear my throat
I remember the time
Way back inside my mind
Thinking simple thoughts
Their trapped inside my mind
The simple thoughts are often so hard to find
Dreaming of the dawn
Coming upon me soon
Wondering if the day will stay
True to me or will it drift away
Leaving me to pray for a better one on the way
Reclaiming Time
09-26-08
Waking with the sunlight on my face
