About this ebook

This is a devotional book that is inspired by Holy Spirit. It has been in the works since 2008. I wrote this devotional with one most important objective: to help people to understand the meaning of the word they are saying about themselves and each other and to help encourage people to meditate on the Word of God each day in order to empower themselves and each other in love, peace, and joy.

It is for everyone, especially for every Christian worldwide, both denominational and nondenominational. This devotional is a word meditation form the Word of God (Bible).

The Word

This devotional provides a word for you each day to meditate on and to discuss with your friends and fellow Christians. It can be a devotional for a group discussion such as Group Book Club, Christian Group Book Club, Bible Study Group, and Friends Book Study Group.

The Bible Reference

This devotional provides a clear and understanding meaning of the word based on biblical principles; in addition, this devotional provides the Bible verse of each word and where it has been used in the Bible, the meaning of the word, and a practical application to our daily life. This devotional has a different title for each month, and it contributes to growing in understanding of the word from the Bible each day and every month.

The Commentary

This devotional portrays the character of God. The readers will gain deeper insight to God, His character, and His ways. They will be inspired to be more like Jesus. This devotional has a meaningful commentary on each Word and helps the reader to understand and give productive preceptive about the Word of God. This devotional will empower and encourage sons and daughters of God, believers and nonbelievers to dive into the Word of God each day.

It's amazing what can happen when hostility is greeted with gentleness, when harshness is greeted with tenderness, when anger is greeted with love and understanding. When someone is shouting at you, you've got an incredible opportunity not to shout them down but to show them love and Jesus. Like I always say, "Keep Believing!"

    About the Author

    The Word Became Flesh

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

    —John 1:1–3 NIV)

    January: Creation

In the creation story, we believe that God creates lightness and darkness and relegates them to morning and evening. Through this, He creates what we call the first day.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The Bible begins with this account of God's creation of earth and its inhabitants. We Christians debate and discuss the means by which God created the earth, but what this passage makes explicitly clear is that it was God who did it.

Where did we come from? What is the meaning of life? The answers to those questions aren't simple, but they have their roots in the much-debated opening verses of the Bible, which describe God's creation of the world and everything in it. From the very first verse of the Bible, God's role in creation is made clear, and we believe.

When God created humans, He placed them in a position of authority—dominion—over the rest of creation. Mankind has a leadership role (and responsibility) in the grand scheme of creation. A human being is a credible thing, far too complex and intricate to have come into being without the guiding hand of a Creator.

And Christians look ahead to the day that God creates a new heaven and a new earth—a new creation untainted by sin. We can participate in this new kingdom through Jesus Christ.

    Day 001

The Word: Created. It means to be formed from nothing; caused to exist; produced; generated; invested with a new character; formed into new combinations, with a peculiar shape, constitution, and properties.

The Bible Reference: Created. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Gen. 1:1 NKJV).

Commentary: God chose us and had plans for us even before the world was created. We can take comfort in knowing that God values us so much that we've been on His mind since before He created the world.

    Day 002

The Word: Heaven. The meaning among Christians, it is the part of space in which the omnipresent Jehovah is supposed to afford more sensible manifestations of His glory. Hence, this is called the habitation of God and is represented as the residence of angels and blessed spirits. The Hebrews acknowledged three heavens: the air or aerial heavens, the firmament in which the stars are supposed to be placed, and the heaven of heavens, or third heaven, the residence of Jehovah.

The Bible Reference: Heaven. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isa. 55:9 NKJV).

Commentary: Jesus is so important. Without Him, we will never experience the love we were made for, the forgiveness He paid for, the heaven we hope we will get to. But He has come to you today, where you are, to offer you an opportunity to begin a personal love relationship with Him.

    Day 003

The Word: Earth. It means the terraqueous globe that we inhabit. In scripture, things on the earth are carnal, sensual, temporary things as opposed to heavenly, spiritual, or divine things.

The Bible Reference: Earth. The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein (Ps. 24:1 NKJV).

Commentary: The earth belongs to God—He created it, and He continues to rule over it. Man has been given dominion over the earth, but in the end, it belongs to God and nobody else.

    Day 004

The Word: Light. It is that flood of shining rays that flows from the sun and constitutes day. One part of scripture throws light on another. In scripture, God, the source of knowledge and a true Christian, a person enlightened.

The Bible Reference: Light. "Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life'" (John 8:12 NKJV).

Commentary: Before we were saved by Christ, we lived in spiritual darkness. But now that Christ has redeemed us, we're to live as children of light, having nothing to do with the darkness that previously characterized our lives.

    Day 005

The Word: Darkness. It is the absence of light; a state of being intellectually clouded; ignorance and Empire of Satan.

Reference: Darkness. "I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me" (Acts 26:17–18 NKJV).

Commentary: Don't be intimidated by the darkness—you are the most important person in that dark place because you have the light of Jesus Christ in you. Without you, darkness is all there is. Humbly, gently, lovingly, be the light there. You are one light that should never be turned out!

    Day 006

The Word: Day. It is that part of the time of the earth's revolution on its axis in which its surface is presented to the sun; the part of the twenty-four hours when it is light; or the space of time between the rising and setting of the sun called the artificial day, light, and sunshine.

Reference: Day. "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it" (Ps. 118:24 NKJV).

Commentary: Cultivate a heart of gratitude and begin your day journey with the joy of the Lord! God will continue to bless you as do so.

    Day 007

The Word: Night. It is that part of the natural day when the sun is beneath the horizon or the time from sunset to sunrise, and it is a state of ignorance, intellectual and moral darkness.

Reference: Night. "I must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work" (John 9:4 NKJV).

Commentary: We're not just to read God's Word; we are to meditate on it day and night. Meditating on Scripture means thinking about what we read carefully and pondering its application to our life as we continue the work of God and His kingdom.

    Day 008

The Word: Firmament. The region of the air; the sky or heavens.

Reference: Firmament. "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork" (Ps. 19:1 NKJV).

Commentary: You know that on the second day of Creation, God created the sky a firmament to separate the waters above and below it. What a wonderful plan and creation for mankind!

    Day 009

The Word: Seasons. A fit or suitable time; the convenient time; the usual or appointed time and a time of some continuance, but not long.

Reference: Season. "He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper" (Ps. 1:3 NKJV).

Commentary: Depending on your season of life, fruit bearing will be expressed through different venues, work you do, and your ability to be a blessing to others.

    Day 010

The Word: Multiply. To grow or increase in number and to increase in extent, to extend and to spread.

Reference: Multiply. "Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth'" (Gen. 1:28 NKJV).

Commentary: One of God's first commands to humans was to be fruitful and multiply—to reproduce and fill the earth. He never intended Adam and Eve to live alone, but to become parents to many new generations of people.

    Day 011

The Word: Word. Language; living speech; oral expression. The message was delivered by word of mouth. It's a scripture; divine revelation, or any part of it. This is called the Word of God.

Reference: Word. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1 NKJV).

Commentary: As you read the Bible, ask yourself two questions: What is God saying here? and What am I going to do differently today because He said it? God's Holy Spirit knows all about God's Word and all about your life. Each day, ask God to show you how to bring those two together and live a life of abundance.

    Day 012

The Word: Life. The present state of existence; the time from birth to death; eternal happiness in heaven and giver of supreme felicity.

Reference: Life. "In Him was life and the life was the light of men" (John 1:4 NKJV).

Commentary: God wants to make you clean, wants to make you new, and He wants you to have His very best. When you give Him your life, you get love without strings and you get love without regrets.

    Day 013

The Word: Beginning. The first cause; origin, that which is first; the first state; commencement or entrance into being.

Reference: Beginning. "He was in the beginning with God" (John 1:2 NKJV).

Commentary: One of the most famous titles given to God is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. God is all-powerful, and His domain encompasses all of space and time.

    Day 014

The Word: Appearance. The act of coming into sight; the act of becoming visible to the eye. External show; semblance assumed, in opposition to reality or substance; as we are often deceived by appearances and he has the appearance of virtue.

    Reference: Appearance. "Abstain from
