Conversations with God

About this ebook
Have you ever wished to have a conversation with God? Have you ever been distracted while you talk with God? When I pray, and distractions appear, And I request You to walk with me, We'll make all those distractions A part of our conversation. And God says, "Look for Me . . . Expect Me . . . I set My vision of Hope before you To anchor your soul." Sometimes we babble at God, and sometimes He seems to answer us. Usually the answer we think we hear is exactly the words we needed at the time. Conversations with God is an attempt to discuss thoughts such as how He wants us to change, or about our choices while we are in His presence, or how He wants us to help others. But God always desires that we give Him our thanks and praises.

Conversation
When I pray, and distractions appear,
And I request You to walk with me,
We’ll make all those distractions
A part of our conversation.
With debilitating temptations
And evil attempting derailment,
When I turn to tell You, Lord,
Our conversation continues.
Chapter One
Change Me
From Sin
Keep Your
Mind on Me!
(God Speaks)
Keep your mind on Me,
For more than merely moments
Focus, child! Focus on Me
And you will be amazed
As blessings pour upon you
Of glory and of mercy
From opened gates of Heaven.
Keep your mind on Me
Repent, and beg forgiveness
For sins of inattention,
For sin of too much pride,
And knowingly committing
The sins of hate, of envy,
And you will be forgiven.
O God
O God above,
O God around,
O God within,
Wash me with love,
With grace, surround,
And cleanse my sin.
Merciful Lord,
I beg, release
The grip of sin.
I trust Your word
To tame the beast
That dwells within.
Forgive
How can I know what sins
Still lurk within my heart?
O Lord, deliver me
From unknown and the known.
Cleanse me from the hidden faults,
And keep me from known sins.
Don’t give my sins control.
And please, O Lord, forgive!
(published in Sing Into the Silence, Green Ivy Publishing, 2015)
Repentance
Lord, may all my tears freely flow
Recalling the pain I have caused.
May I feel sorrow,
Let me grieve deeply,
May consequences come quickly.
I’ve need of Your mercy, Your love.
Lord, I declare my dependence.
Once I’ve repented,
Lord, You lift me up.
You have refilled my empty heart.
One More Time
Because of past forgiveness, Lord,
I’ll approach Your throne room again.
Please delete my sins one more time,
And empty out the trash bucket
So I can’t revisit old sins.
I know once You’ve forgiven them,
They are gone!
Here again, I fall on my knees.
I beg You, blot them one more time.
I offer up deep thanks, O Lord,
For You first beckoned me to come.
My repentance granted entrance
Before You.
Thanks for being accessible.
Praises, You are approachable!
Lord, help me be more malleable;
Help me become obedient.
O Lord above, forgive my sins
One more time!
Before and After
I felt helpless, and hopeless;
Was worthless, and witless—
This, Lord, was my Before.
Now I’m repented, restored,
You’ve guided and guarded—
This, now, is my After.
Lord, I had been afflicted,
But now, my affection
For You has tripled!
Lord, please hear my confession,
And grant me compassion.
Help me to sin no more.
Sins
Lord, don’t let it be in arrogance
That I not confess each sin by name.
It’s just my short-term memory loss
For I truly cannot remember!
I know I have sinned in many ways:
