I am a second-generation Mexican American who was born into a family of faith, hope, and love, which was tested by a tragic turn of events that left me shaken to the core and in constant turmoil throughout my life. Then God used another turn of events to lead me on a renewed journey of faith, hope, love, and restoration and to show me that in my weakness I would find my strength. I have been writing since I was a child as a form of expression of my hidden emotions. I graduated from high school, took some college classes, but after failing composition repeatedly, I decide to join the workforce and have become a career-oriented professional. I am a single mother of an amazing son and live my life with a purpose to love and help others through my story.

Chapter 1
Snatched!
Five-year-old Kiba ran with everything that was within her—crying, afraid, looking for a place to hide where Avim couldn’t find her. She had never been more frightened in all her life!
Kiba’s daddy, Yigol, had been taken away to prison a few years earlier when she was only two. Her momma, Simona, had divorced Yigol and had moved in with her parents with Kiba and Deron, Kiba’s older brother, in tow.
Kiba’s extreme fear and sadness in losing her daddy and the home she was accustomed to eventually turned to joy as her life with her grandparents, momma, and brother had become more than she had hoped for.
Now three years later, Kiba was being chased by a man named Avim. Her momma had been dating Avim for quite a few months. Kiba knew right from the start that something was not right. Even at five years old, she had a discernment within her that there was nothing good in this man. She had avoided him at all costs, refusing to accept him into the family that she loved and enjoyed—the family where she had once again felt protected after her daddy had been taken away.
Kiba had a hard time understanding why her momma, who loved both her children with such a deep love, could fall for someone like him. She deserved so much better! And why did she need someone else anyway? Weren’t they enough? But nevertheless, she had fallen head over heels for him.
As Kiba ran for dear life, heavy footsteps pursuing and quickly catching up with her, she darted into the dark cellar where she had spent many hours with her grandpa eating chocolate bars out of the sight of her grandma and momma—one of those lasting, joy-filled memories. Somehow, she felt she would be safe there.
She heard Avim softly calling her name. She knew this was not only a trick but was also a show for other family who might hear him. Finally she heard heavy footsteps coming down the cellar stairs. Every step seemed like a step of death to Kiba. Her heart was beating so fast she thought it would certainly burst. At the very least, she was certain he would find her because the beating of her heart was so loud in her own ears.
She could see Avim from her hiding place looking behind all the stuff that was stored in that dark basement. When he would be out of her sight, she could hear him moving things, not easily giving up. Soon she heard his footsteps so close she felt he could hear her breathing. Kiba held her breath as best as she could. After what seemed like forever, Avim peered over where she was crouched, declaring quietly so as not to be heard by others yet with a sinister tone of voice, You can run, but I will always catch you!
As Avim reached in to grab her, she heard the voice of her momma who, in the midst of all the commotion and unknowingly to Kiba, had made her way down the basement stairs. Her momma’s voice was full of love and concern as she called out to her encouraging her not to be afraid. At that point, Avim immediately aborted his attempt. A temporary sigh of relief escaped her lips.
As her momma gently and lovingly reached into Kiba’s hiding place, she held her hand and soothed her as she explained why she, Kiba, and Deron would be moving away with Avim. The temporary relief turned into panic as Kiba realized that her safe life that she had grown to love and enjoy was being snatched away from her once again. Simona helped her up and gently led her out. But Kiba’s trembling hands and shaky legs were not only because of a broken heart but gave insight into the fear that coursed through every fiber of her being. A fear that would soon be realized. A fear that would be played out over the coming years of her life. Kiba, Deron, her momma, and Avim would soon be moving almost eight hundred miles away from what meant safety and security to Kiba to the sleepy little town of Abilee.
Chapter 2
A Dark Cold Night
The trip to Abilee seemed like an eternity for Kiba. She had never even heard of this little town, but it didn’t matter anyway. Her greatest fear
