The Universal Theme
This book was written for those of us who are trying to understand if there is a purpose to our life. With so much suffering and strife in our world, could there possibly be a purpose to it? This study examines it from several different perspectives. It is dedicated to those of us who are tired of being manipulated or brainwashed by people or organizations for their own gain. This book is about having potential to put God in your daily life and having it reflect in your actions. It is not meant to replace religion, but to enhance it.
Introduction
There is a change in consciousness that is creeping through the world. Religions and doctrines have been around for thousands of years, directing and controlling people’s lives. When people look around at religions and doctrines, there has been a certain failure in them to give mankind complete direction and understanding for their lives. Some have failed more than others while some have been particularly manipulated by mankind. One thing is for certain: people are taking a closer look at their religious habits and the direction it is taking them.
This study is a base to help the average person sift through a variety of Christian religious teachings we are bombarded with each day. Each religious group is full of highly educated and studied individuals, and if you were to spend time with each, you could almost come to the conclusion that they are all right. Is it possible to believe in one religion and truly believe in your heart that you are 100 percent correct? Is it possible to be a member of all Christian religions or possibly not any at all and still believe you are truly right? What if there has been a cover up or manipulation of history to meet certain doctrines agendas? If this is so, can you still go forward with them?
This study does not try to say which religion is right or wrong. It is about applying some simple basics of Christianity to your daily life and trying to live your beliefs. It puts forward some theories to help understand concepts that come out of Bible teachings. This study will make some logical assumptions from these theories and Bible concepts, and then wrap it up with backing from Bible scriptures. This study will then compare some aspects of a nonreligious life, and see if there is any overlap in doctrine. We will see if there is any harmony possible between the two opposing theories.
Again this book is meant to be about basics and the daily application of them. For the average person, true success does not come about from applying complicated theories once in a while but from applying basic concepts repetitively on a daily basis.
Once you have a base upon which to build your beliefs, you can then move on to more complex theories about why and what you are doing with your life. With reference to scripture, it is not what goes into a person that is bad but what comes out them that is (Mark 7:15).
All scriptures referred to in this study come from the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible.
The Quest
So here we are, over seven billion people meandering around on this earth, trying to figure what our purpose for being here is. Each day, we get up, go about our daily activities, some happy, some sad, some hard, some fun. Given the choice though, most of us would choose a different routine than the one we do each day. Most of us do believe there is some higher purpose and control in our world. Unfortunately, this is something man has not been able to prove without a doubt. We have lots of theories and religions to help give us some understanding to the higher purpose. No group or person has yet been able to stand up and shout this is the purpose, and here is irrefutable evidence to back up this theory. We have put men in space, built fabulously complex things, and solved great problems, but the greatest mystery still eludes us.
So this leaves us wandering around, listening to all kinds of people with all kinds of theories that no one can prove. We all want to believe we have a purpose; it’s just that no one has yet been able to explain it convincingly. Many of us have had our beliefs changed significantly over the years, making us wonder what road we will go down next. We wander around dabbling in a little bit of this belief and then another and then a modified another. So far, we are still looking.
If we could ever solve this great mystery of proving there is a God and an afterlife, a lot of life’s other problems would no longer be relevant. Problems of not enough wealth, social status, and power over other individuals would really become irrelevant. We could just sail through life focusing on daily events and not become to wound up over them because it wouldn’t matter. We could just do whatever our hearts are content with and go to our grave with a smile. Here is where the dilemma occurs. If there is an afterlife, then there must be purpose for our being here, which means what we do each day has meaning. If there is a heaven, then each day, we play a part
