Secularism Attacking the Roman Catholic Faith in the US
Secularism Attacking the Roman Catholic Faith in the US
After investigating Roman Catholic Orders I came across the Jesuits and was intrigued. For one it was the first time I was exposed to orders within my Faith that exist beyond the local Roman Catholic Parish and Priest. The one thing I did take was a need for reflection and prayer. A couple of days later I had felt an overwhelming need to right down what I drempt and how I planned to help. I envisioned the Secular Society of the United States Attacking the Faith of the Roman Catholic Church. It then began to develop in which the secular world was a circle with 3 to 4 prongs, much like the wheel of fortune with tags to each prong. The center was a description of an attack on the Church, more specifically the first thought I had and am still focused on today because I have not developed it further, was the attack on the Blessed Mother Mary and her Conception of our Lord and Savior. So the center tag of this secular wheel is the Disbelief that it was an Immaculate Conception. The second thought was immediate and we as a Roman Catholic’s have a Circle of Faith. This Circle also has middle and in this circle of faith to rebuke the secular attack is the faith that Jesus was Immaculate. The Prong of Faith that rang in my head was the creation story however it was as follows.
There was never a beginning it was always God. And as it says we are created in the image and likeness of God. We love we imagine we discover and we create. God loved us so much he created the beginning it came from nothing and however we speculate on how it evolved, all became the universe. Within this universe he placed the discoveries of truth, sense, conformity, randomness and the unknown for us to discover. As we came into being we reached out for the love, understanding and knowledge of everything around us and we were loved. We discovered the maths and sciences and word and language which places reason on the world around us and in which we are in his image and likeness. With every discovery we become more secular and distant but at the core we are loved and will never be dismissed. And this was the defense of the faith of the Miracle of the conception if God can and will be the creator of all and loves all how could he not love this pure Woman and bless her with her only son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who was sent to this world as one of us to show us a new path in which word was made flesh and from this a new path was given to us away from the old in which we are to love our brothers and sisters and those who can not stand for themselves.
We as Roman Catholic go to Mass and it is organized around a yearly Calendar within this Calendar are feasts and days of reflection. If you were to go to Mass everyday there are two short individual readings from the Bible meant for reflection and then a longer reading called the Gospel also from the Bible which gives us a daily message. After the reading the Pastor gives his Homily or personal reflection on the day and on the readings. Personally I don’t read the Bible on my own I enjoy the Mass and the intent of the organization to take the word piece by piece reflect on it and try to reinforce the message into my life on a weekly basis.
My next objective is to create as many secular circles as possible and rebuke them with God’s word. I reflected briefly after meeting with one of the Father’s of the Jesuits today, this is much like what the Gideon Bible does at the preface, it lists bible passages and then lists areas of concerns like despair, lost of a loved and you can go to the page and verse and be comforted by Gods word. But I want to take it to the next level of attacking the attacker with faith. For every centralist idea I can come up with for each circle of secularism there is a circle of faith with a central theme and prongs which come from the Bible that can reinforce the Faith of the hopeful. This is a tough task because I can’t verse scripture. And this will take a lot of reading however I think in this time and date in the US we Catholics need this.
The first step will be a research project. But first what do we believe in. That’s Easy we say it at every Mass the Apostles Creed God the creator, Jesus his son conceived by Immaculate Conception who suffered and died and rose again. We believe in the Holy Spirit which which blessed Mary and which is after Jesus’s death God the Son and the Holy Spirit are now one. We believe in the Church and its founding’s we believe in the Saints and their Holy and
Miraculous works and we believe in Life Everlasting. Pretty simple, I’ll place the actual reading of the prayer on another post for those interested Then I’ll go through the Gospel of Matthew and break it apart into the Roman Catholic Creed and how the Gospel reinforces our beliefs wrapped up in this beautiful creed.
