    The Announcement

It had already been a busy night and now this, thought Board #4 as he stared down a stray dog that was attempting to enter the yard. Board #4 had been watching as the dog had crossed from the far side of the road and now stood before the gate nervously sniffing the air.

Board #4 rousted his brothers Board #5 and Board #6, and together, they shook the gate so hard that it nearly broke one of the hinges. The sudden sound of squeaky hinges frightened the dog away, and the boards settled back down. Board #5 and Board #6 grumbled at having been wakened, but they knew that they would willingly do it all over again should the need arrive. However, the need seemed to be happening far too often lately.

There were still several hours before Board #4's watch would be over for the night. He hoped there would be no more visitors. Just then, he felt something crawl across his face. There were times when Board #4 wished that he had hands to swat things away, and this was one of them.

How are you this evening? chirped a katydid.

    Fine, replied Board #4.

What did the dog want? asked the katydid.

I don't know. But no matter, it's gone now, said Board #4.

I was just wondering if it had come because it had heard about TZ, or if maybe it was sent here by the Spaghetti Moss Zombie.

Everyone has heard about TZ. That's old news, replied Board #4. TZ left long ago.

Yes, but he's coming back. And he isn't coming alone, said the katydid. Haven't you heard?

    Heard what? demanded Board #4.

That TZ is returning and that he is bringing help, chirped the katydid.

How do you know this? demanded Board #4. Who has told you?

It's on the wind. My kind have seen his travels from afar, and have sung of his deeds. TZ's return will soon be upon us. Now excuse me, but I must be off. I wish you good night.

"No, wait! Tell us what you know," demanded Board
