About this ebook
In the city that has no limits, two possible brothers are torn apart by the law and the criminal element lurking within the streets of Clover City. Growing up together, Victor and Jesse have never foreseen their innocent friendship from childhood becoming deadly. But as the two grow up, their lives take a serious turn in different directions. Jesse learns he has a love for law enforcement, whereas Victor pursues the world of crime and its unforgiving rules.
A disturbing early life experience for Victor turns into a haunting dream that leads him into a life of crime. And now he’s got the hunger to want to be the biggest, baddest, and meanest drug lord in the city. Now taken under the wing of a well-known, old-school street hustler by the name of Domino, the hunger is being fed. As he began to be raised by the streets and with the game he is soon challenged with, who can he trust in his own organization and resistance from other crime organizations in the city? Once he gains street credibility, he is soon faced with the threat of Yorktown’s top cop and once childhood friend but now considered to be on the opposite side of the tracks.
The suspense starts to build. Rachael, living with the secret of the past, is trying to go on with her life but is still troubled knowing the truth that she has lost two sons to the streets, and one who has done good for himself in life. The loss of her late husband is also weighing in on her as she hangs onto what life she feels she has left.
Jesse’s long-time friend and classmate Benecia has come home from college and landed a job at a major bank in town. Reminiscing on past good times may be met with painful memories for Benecia, as the twists and turns of her life unwind in Clover City.
It’s a crush between the good and the bad that will only add more fuel to the fire as Corrupt City takes you on a journey to a gritty city that has no limits—just secrets, crime, and deception.

Chapter 1
The Dream
Victor shrieks, Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Don’t hit my momma! Why are you hitting my momma? Stop it! Stop it! Don’t! Don’t! Don’t hurt my momma! Momma, Momma, Momma, please get up, get up!
His pleads are rejected.
Drunken Floyd angrily steps closer to Victor and hisses, Go back to your room, little nigga, me and your momma just talking.
He turns around to face Rachael, but before changing his focus completely to her, he demands. So take yo little ass back to your room, like I done told you boy!
Victor stomps and cries, No, Momma, Momma.
Rachael attempts to reassure him. Victor, baby, go back into your room. It’s gonna be okay, baby. I love you, baby. Now go back into your room okay?
Floyd sneered. Shut up you, bitch. He can watch for all I care.
Rachael is utterly confused. She doesn’t want her little boy to see this. It’s too much for just a child to handle, but she has no control whatsoever in this situation. She just must suffer through it and hope for the best. She hopes this doesn’t affect Victor as much as it is hurting and killing her internally and externally.
She decides to plead for Victor’s well-being. In the moment, she is trying to put her son first. He is her only child, and she doesn’t want him witnessing this incident. Floyd, please not in front of my boy. I’ll do whatever you want me to.
Rachael begs.
Floyd confidently jabs, Bitch, I know you will.
He reminds her, Didn’t I tell you to shut up? I done told you to shut up.
Victor is hysterically sobbing. Tears are draining from his eyes. In between sobs and sniffles, Victor moans, Momma, Momma, I love you, Momma.
Then he leaves the room as Floyd is pulverizing his mother.
Stop it, Floyd! Please don’t hit me no more please, Floyd. Please stop it!
Rachael screams pleads at Floyd.
This just makes Floyd even more agitated in his drunken stupor, shifting his mood into a drunken fury. He starts kicking, punching, and smacking Rachael, beating her as much as he physically can. I told you, b—, not to ever.
Floyd spats as he continues to beat on her and proceeds to choke Rachael.
Rachael gulps and gasps for air as she is kicking and flaying, trying her best to get him off her, but she is unsuccessful. He vastly overpowers her since he’s practically double her size. She’s a petite young mom that never dreamed of this being her life. She had hopes and dreams of a happy, healthy, and functional family. Those dreams were destroyed, and she no longer has any hope or dreams—just complete and total disappointment. She doesn’t know what there even is to do to get out of it or how to possibly do anything to make it better. It just seems to be getting worse and worse. In this moment, she is just praying to survive, hoping she’ll live to watch her baby boy grow up into a man. It doesn’t seem like she will be surviving that long. She doesn’t think she will last through tonight.
As he leaves the room, Victor thinks to himself through his cries and tears, I must stop this man from hurting my momma if it’s the last thing I do. He loves his mom so much and hates seeing her this way. He doesn’t understand how anyone could hurt his mom. She is so loving and caring toward him. At his young age, he can’t even begin to comprehend why this is happening. All he can do is try his best to protect her and never let this man touch her or beat her ever again, which should never be the responsibility of a child so young. Instead of enjoying his childhood and doing the typical things kids his age do, he is subjected to witnessing his mother being abused physically and mentally, and he himself is getting mentally chastised from this idiotic drunkard.
Victor is trying hard to think, think of a way to stop this, to end this. He remembers he saw his mom hiding a gun under her bed the other day. He doesn’t know why or what for, and she had no idea he watched her put it there. At that moment, it clicks in his mind, and he knows what needed to be done. He figures out a way to stop this once and for all. He will save his momma, and she will be so proud of him. This would make her so happy and keep her safe, he thinks. He stealthily goes into her room and grabs the gun hidden underneath her bed. I know this will make him stop hurting my momma, he thinks.
Neither of them realizes during the turmoil that Victor has run into his mother’s room instead of going back to his room as he is told to do. He rushes back to the living room holding the gun up toward Floyd, crying and shaking. Victor shouts, Please! Please! Get off my momma, mister. Please! Let her up! Stop hitting her! Please!
Floyd doesn’t even glance at him. He ignores Victor’s pleas and continues attacking Rachael. Victor doesn’t back down. He gets a firmer grasp on the gun and approaches closer towards Floyd. Rachael still fumbling trying to get away from Floyd, she turns and sees Victor. She noticed he has her gun aimed at Floyd and shrieks, No, baby No! Don’t!
Floyd, not even glancing toward Victor, totally oblivious to the fact that Victor is aiming a gun at him since he is focused solely on pounding down Rachael. You little mothafucker, didn’t I tell you!
As he screams to Victor, he begins to
