About this ebook
Life is a journey which the soul embarks on. It is like an unfinished book, waiting to add new chapters from stories not yet written. One never knows what the journey will carry one through or even the seasons the journey will bring forth. Only God knows. Yesterday one could have been in a Desert season. Today one could be in a Valley season, looking up at the Mountains. The same God who was with one in their Desert season is the same God with one today in their Valley season, with the view of the Mountains that surround one. The comfort and peace to the believer's soul is knowing that God can be trusted in every season.
As you read and reflect on these little humorous stories of life's seasons, I pray and hope that you will enjoy one or two little chuckles. I also pray that you may be able to relate and identify with the characters Mountain, Valley, Foothill, Hillside, Flatland, Rangeland, Desert, and Lowland as each goes through the difficulties, disappointments, and ups and downs. Most often, these are part of what some of life's seasons cause the heart and soul to feel and experience. Enjoy the laughter, love, and lessons from Humorous Stories for Life's Seasons. Remember that laughter is good for the soul.

The Mountain and the Valley’s Conversation
Galatians 5:14 reads, Love your neighbor as yourself.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference,
prayed Mountain as it tried to get some rest and sleep.
But Valley was crying too loud.
That’s it, thought Mountain to itself. Will you please stop all that whining!
shouted Mountain to Valley. Valley, you’ve been whining over two months now, and I’ve tried my best to keep quiet. But there’s only so much a mountain can take. Valley, all that whining from morning to night is interfering with my rest. Just look at these dark circles around my eyes. Why, they’re as big as the ocean, and I think I am losing some of my hair. All these things happening to me are happening because of a lack of rest and sleep and because of stress, frustration, discuss, and anxiety which, by the way, is not good for my health.
Mountain, why are you picking on me? You don’t even know me, yet here you are, ready to condemn my actions. It must be so wonderful to look down on me from the mountain,
said Valley, now crying uncontrollably. Nobody likes me or cares about me; I feel so alone.
Should I get the violin and play, ‘Life is unfair, hard, and painful at times’?
asked Mountain.
There you go, being mean and unconcerned. Can’t you see how upset I am? I could use a hug,
said Valley, snuffing.
Maybe I could bake you some pity cookies and throw a box of tissues and a raincoat down to you since your tears are coming down like raindrops from heaven,
said the Mountain.
Mountain, you missed your calling. Perhaps you should be a comedian,
said Valley, still snuffing.
Because of you, there certainly would be a lot of material for me to use,
replied Mountain, laughing so loud until Valley shook.
What a funny mountain you are,
said Valley.
Mountain responded, And you, Valley, are a nuisance and a headache.
Valley, weeping, then said, There you go again with the unfunny remarks.
Valley, do you know what your problem is?
asked Mountain.
No, but I am sure you do,
answered Valley in a loud, angry voice.
Well, Valley, the problem with you is that you are miserable and want everyone else to be. And you want others to feel sorry for you,
said Mountain.
I don’t expect you to understand,
said Valley, crying at the top of its lungs.
Listen here, Valley. All that crying is working on my nerves, so cut it out. Because of you, Valley, I haven’t had any rest in two months!
screamed Mountain.
Mountain, you don’t understand what I am going through in this valley,
replied Valley with tears rushing from its eyes.
Now look, Valley, what I do understand is that you have brought nothing to the surrounding areas or the mountain neighborhood except misery. This was a place of peace, joy, happiness, and laughter. It was a sunny and pleasant place to live and retire. But since you came, Valley, even the sun won’t come over this way anymore,
said Mountain.
Oh! You don’t understand my troubles and what I am going through as a valley,
said Valley, still weeping.
What I do understand is that God said, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ But I must admit that you, Valley, are really trying my patience when it comes to obeying what God has commanded me, which is to love your neighbor as yourself. But you, Valley, haven’t made it easy. Valley, in fact, the neighbors had a neighborhood meeting last night,
said Mountain.
Meeting! I knew nothing about a meeting,
said Valley in a surprised tone.
Well, that’s because the meeting was all about you, which I was about to tell you before you interrupted me. The flatlands, foothills, hills, prairies, deserts, and other nearby mountains want you to leave because many are suffering from fatigue, depression, and despair. This was a special and enjoyable area until you came, Valley, with all your noise and weeping. But I persuaded the mountains, flatlands, hills, prairies, deserts, and even the animals from the birds to the deer and others to give you another chance to get yourself together. Why, there have been two floods caused by all your tears,
said Mountain.
Mountain, it’s so easy for you and the others to complain about me since none of them are in the valley, including you Mountain, who is on the mountaintop and not in the valley. The foothills, desert, and all the rest can speak about the valley. Yet none of them are in the valley, facing the challenges, struggles, hardship, and pain I am going through. None of them know the troubles and storms I have had to endure,
said Valley, now crying uncontrollably.
"Listen, Valley, we’ve all been in the valley. For it’s in the valley that God trains and tests. It’s in the valley where relationships are grown and developed. It’s in the valley where faith is strengthened. It’s in the valley where the soul draws nearer to the Lord and the heart learns to depend and rely on God, his Word, and his promises. It’s in the valley where the self surrenders and submits its will and way to the Lord. It’s in the valley where it is learned that
