About this ebook

This book looks at our contemporary time in the light of biblical history and the coming Prince. While reflecting on the environment we are now living in, is Jesus coming soon? After a church service one day, I said to a friend, "Have a good week." And his reply was "Not sure if we, as believers, will be here next week," meaning the rapture of the church is so close. Because of current events in America, we will be gone soon. I said, "You cannot look at our country [the United States of America] and equate it to biblical prophecy." The time frame for prophecy is understood by looking at Israel, how is God working with His chosen people, Israel, and what the Scripture teaches us of end-times. What is the Abrahamic covenant? Is the United States in biblical prophecy? The book covers these terms and more. How does God use other nations to accomplish His plan for mankind, and what will our part as Americans be in the tribulation and the future?

    Introduction

Icome to writing this book with a heavy heart, a pandemic in progress, civil unrest, and seemingly despair on every front. The Republican National Convention is on its third night with great American stories and testimonials, giving hope of a better tomorrow. Hurricane Laura, which is causing devastation on the Gulf Coast, is making landfall, horrendous firestorms on the West Coast and constant political unrest and riots in many of our major cities. As I lay here trying to fall asleep, tossing and turning, the Lord was speaking to my heart, saying, Time to start writing this message of hope through the midst of a storm. What is our place in God’s plan? Will we be a superpower for the future of our nation on the world stage? Will the United States be here or play some significant part in prophetic history during the Tribulation period? Is America even in the Bible in any relevant importance during the seven-year event where God judges the entire world? And again, how do we live, or what is our impact as believers, being ambassadors of Christ? The need to stand strong in a country that is collapsing all around us is relevant and essential. Let us get started working through some of these thoughts as I expand the topics through the course of this study. My goal is not to discourage or throw a damper on why we should even try to move forward but by encouraging us to see that God is still in control. He will use a believer’s testimony and witness, bringing hope and faith to a dying and lost world.

In approaching this serious discussion, my premise is that God’s Word (the Bible) is the final authority for all prophetic and historical outcomes of human history. The conclusions will be based on what the Scripture teaches and faith in what God states. Nothing will be up to vote or a majority consensus to establish different outcomes. This discussion will be easy to read, not getting bogged down in textual study in the Greek and Hebrew text (which is always best). We will stay the course and not get sidetracked into various directions of thought. I really enjoy my Greek studies and love language interpretations, but at this point, I will use Bible verses and passages to focus in on the subject matter only. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is rewarder of those who diligently seeks Him (Hebrews 11:16–17). All Scripture is given by inspiration [God breathed] of God, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction, instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16). The reason I’ve chosen these two verses is that divine inspiration of Scripture is a circular argument and is a study in and of itself. This has been settled in my life when I accepted Jesus Christ at fifteen years of age and testify that God is always true to His Word. There are many teachings out there, but for this discussion, we will stick with the simple text as our proof text. In college (Calvary Bible College and Burlington Bible Institute), I had professors who would always say, What is your proof text? So I will strive to back up the discussion of this study with a scriptural reference, allowing the readers to dig deeper into the text, by letting the Holy Spirit bless your studies.

Also, realizing that there might be readers who have no background in the Bible, I will cover some things like who the Messiah the Prince is whom one finds reading the various books of the Bible, the Abrahamic covenant found in Genesis, and how this comes into play as we look at the United States in prophetic history. Also, one chapter, which I enjoyed interjecting into the narrative, gives testimony of God’s heart to His creation and for all mankind. The future events of the tribulation are devastating for sure.

One final thought as we launch into this discussion is to encourage believers to take heart, being strengthened in the Lord, to be a witness for a dying world and our country as we know it. I recently visited the Pensacola lighthouse (the tallest one on the Gulf Coast), which is on the Pensacola naval base, where the Blue Angels fighter wing are stationed. My son-in-law Tim and I climbed up to the top getting on the catwalk to enjoy an incredible view. The wind was so strong that on the video I was taking, you could hear it howling. Looking out, you could see for miles. Navigators were comforted through many storms by the light it provided for over one hundred years. My hope is to be a strong witness, a testimony of who God is, and to encourage others to see God’s light is still shining, that you would know Him in your life and be comforted in our troubled last days.

    Chapter 1

    Reflection of 2020

As I began this year of 2020, it seemed that the atmosphere of the country was exploding politically. The House of Representatives had just impeached our president on unprecedented charges and unsubstantiated claims of obstruction and high crimes. I watched this saga continue every day. As a believer, it became clear that the republic was under attack as a nation, good against evil. Twisted thinking, lying, and hypocrisy were in full swing. The house voted purely on party lines (contrary to all normal standards and established laws), to proceed with impeachment for high crimes and by a partisan majority. My household and I are sure every family across the entire country were talking about these actions. The feeling was, how do leaders who achieve an elected position not understand or see the damage that is being done to the nation as a whole? We work and live our daily lives and find it hard to understand the struggle that is being played in the nation’s capital for political power and relevance, regardless of how it impacts the average citizen. Gone are the days when many of our elected officials realize or even care that they represent us or even understand what is expected from them. We’re so far removed from the process that it would take a full-time job to follow what is actually going on, the impact of legislation, how the process works with the various committees, and where the funding is going. Elected officials take our money and use it to fund many things that would be contrary to Scripture and even violates a good conscience; but it appears that, as citizens, our hands are tied. I saw this on a local level. Being a facility manager for the municipal complex in Kansas City, Missouri, I monitored and handled many capital maintenance projects and have seen firsthand how projects are funded, not sure if citizens would concur. On occasion, there was pushback (if word got out) to the right local activist group. There is tremendous pressure on elected officials, and we need to pray for them. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16). Pray for our leaders!

The next step was the United States Senate taking up the house charges, dragging the country through a sham trial. My question at this point is, why did the majority leader (Mitch McConnell) not just dismiss these unsubstantiated and bogus charges but instead proceeded with a trial? So the process began with the house (Democratic representatives) bringing their case day after day. The president brought the defense with his legal team, making their case. The vote was taken, and President Donald J. Trump was acquitted on both charges. The nation knew the outcome would result in obvious acquittal, so what was the point of the whole exercise? Millions of taxpayer funds were expended, but evil will never look out for any resemblance of good. Ultimately, President Trump was acquitted. This nation is founded on biblical principles and will
