Before You Vote: Think About This
()
About this ebook
Politics can be distasteful to many people, for good reason. Yet the right to vote and choose who will lead us is a great privilege, as well as a responsibility. The list of important issues is long, and it can be a daunting task to get educated enough to form a well thought out opinion on each. If you are like most Americans, you lead a very busy life and simply don't have the time to research. As Christians, we want our views to be in sync with the Lord's. In this short work, I examine three key issues from a Scriptural perspective, seeking to assist the Christian voter in forming Bible-directed convictions. I feel these three are the most important, as they relate to the modern world and the direction of our country. If you desire to see the United States begin moving in a God pleasing direction, think about this. And vote accordingly.

Before You Vote - John R. Bullock
INTRODUCTION
Moreover, you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness, and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
Jethro, father-in-law to Moses, Exodus 18:21
Pastor, I just don't know how I'll vote this next election. Neither of the candidates seem any good. I don't know what to do. I may not vote at all.
Perhaps you have heard this said, or maybe you've said it yourself. I knew the woman who said this to me to be a conscientious Christian citizen, wanting to do the right thing before God. She was sincerely stymied. It can be very frustrating, in today’s climate of fake news and false accusations, trying to decide how to vote.
This short work is directed to the community of believers in Jesus Christ. My desire in writing this is to try to put the process into perspective. Many people are looking for candidates to be Christian, which is preferable. Yet I would say that Jethro's advice to Moses still rings true today, whether a candidate is Christian or not. Ability, morality and character should be the leading criteria in deciding upon the authority you place over yourself.
Many people think of politics as distasteful, with good reason. Often
