Preface
In this book, I want to teach you how to play blackjack, but I also want to teach you how to win money! Throughout this book, I’ve not only shown you how to win, I have showed you the money, and pictures don’t lie! I have not only written about the basics of blackjack, such as basic strategy for the beginner or novice player, but I also show the advanced players the true way to make money quick at blackjack. I have also shown how luck and winning streaks must be identified for you to take advantage of winning while the winning is hot! I not only teach you to recognize the cards running in your favor, I’ve shown how easy those runs can be to recognize. I’ve shared characteristics of the different type of players and how they act in a casino. This book teaches about dealers and the different type of hands they hold and about dealer bust cards. I also talk about the history of cards and the history of the game of blackjack. I have most enjoyed sharing about the friends and long-lasting relationships that I have developed while having fun and playing my favorite game.
I have read books about blackjack that teach you how to count cards, but this book does not teach counting cards; what this book teaches is a system that works better, and this betting technique is sure to win you more money than you have ever dreamed possible in a game of blackjack. I do not know about counting cards, but I have read books about counting. I’ve watched the movie about the players from MIT and how they broke the bank. From what I know of that situation, there was more going on than counting cards, and in today’s game (especially a shoe game), the theory of counting cards might give you a slight advantage, but it can also cost you a lot of money when that count just doesn’t work out for you. My proven system is not counting cards, this proven system is a betting strategy, and it works. My betting strategy beats a counting strategy every time! See the picture below? This could be you!

Chapter 1
The Book Gets a Name
Okay, so the end becomes the beginning! I guess if no one explained the writing of this book to you, the first statement might not make much since. So, I will explain. I have been very excited about writing this book because I love the game of blackjack, and in my excitement, I have been telling friends and family about my book and how it has been progressing. During this time, I have been asked repeatedly What’s the name of your book?
and up until this point, I have not named it. Now the reason I did not name the book before I wrote it was I figured that the writing of the book would name itself, and it has! This year, I have been helping Debra improve on her blackjack game, and I always explain different strategy to her by telling her you must fight to win. Debra and I had played blackjack at the Isle of Capri on Saturday, and we met her sister at the Golden Nugget on Sunday. On the way back to the Isle, Debra told me that she was now understanding what I meant when I would tell her you need to fight to win, and that’s when this book finally got its name. In the book, I mention fight to win repeatedly because if you want to win in blackjack, you cannot give up, and you must fight. So, the book is written, the end has found the finish line, and so the end becomes the beginning, as I am now writing this chapter at the beginning although the writing of this book was at its end.
Okay, I’m done with the corny stuff, and I want to tell you about how fighting in life can be relayed back to not only the strategy of blackjack but through most all things we pursue in life. Take for instance our service men, military, police, firemen, and a whole list of other men and women who devote part if not all their lives to service to the United States and to us as citizens. To you, I give a special Thank you for your service!
Now, these men and women fight for what they believe in. They are fighting while training to be the best or fighting while on duty; these men and women know that if they want to win, they must fight and not give up.
I have a good friend, Maurice (Termite) Watkins. At the time, Termite won the Golden Gloves; he was the youngest at that time to have ever fought and won at the young age of sixteen. Termite knew that if he wanted to be the best, he had to train hard every day, and he literally fought to win. Now, I’m sure if you ever have the opportunity to sit down and talk to Termite, he will tell you that there were many days that he might have wanted to give up, but Termite, knowing he had to fight to win, continued his training, continued his boxing matches, and made it all the way to a World Champion fight. Termite was in fact one of the last boxers to fight in a fifteen-round event. The fight was at Cesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Termite’s championship fight was the under card to the last fight fought by Muhammad Ali. Both great men of their time (again literally) knew they had to fight to win!
Now in the case of Termite Watkins and Muhammad Ali, these two men literally had to fight to win. In other cases, such as high school students or college students that study hard to be valedictorian, they have a different fight, but even as the fight is different, the principle remains the same. The future valedictorians sacrifice time, personal life, and, at times, their basic needs to study and retain the knowledge that will lead them to their goals of reaching academic excellence. If these future scholars had given up, they might never have reached their goals, but they fought to win and were eventually awarded academic achievements of highest honors.
I enrolled in college at a late age and worked hard to maintain a high GPA. I graduated summa cum laude and worked hard to maintain a 4.0 GPA. At times, I had to argue with professors when they counted some of my answers wrong during exams. They would tell me that their answer sheet didn’t show my answer; I would then break out the book they were teaching from and show them the answer I gave was the same answer as the book they were teaching from. I always won my argument and was awarded my points that they had deducted. So, in college, I had to literally fight to win, and although I did not finish with a 4.0, I did graduate with a 3.97, which was enough to graduate with honors. I credit my college success to the strategy of fighting to win, and I bring this strategy of fighting to win to the blackjack table, and when I fight, I win!
So, no matter what you are searching for or what achievements you strive to accomplish, the strategy will always be the same: you must fight to win. As in life fighting to win is a winning strategy, but this same theory works in blackjack. As you read further into this book, you will learn how to fight during the game of blackjack, and in so doing, you will develop a winning strategy that works. I will show you a betting strategy that will increase your winnings in ways you never thought possible. I will explain to you how not hitting 16 against any card the dealer has showing above 7 is just giving up. I always tell Debra as she is learning the game, when she asks if she should hit or not, I say, The children are drowning, what are you going to do?
Her answer now is always Fight!
I will show you how and why you should hit a soft 18 and why splitting and doubling down is not only fighting to win but is a way to make a lot of money. This game, blackjack, is about fighting in every move you make, so learn to be a fighter and you will learn that to make money in blackjack. Fight to win!
Gambling Problem
If you have a gambling problem, there are many avenues for help. Every casino I’ve been to offers a number for addicted gamblers who can call and get help. My friends and I always joke that when we call the number, they always offer us a free room for the weekend. However, a gambling addition is no laughing matter. Addiction of any type can be debilitating to families, relationships, and damaging to friendships. If you have an addiction to gambling, I will not suggest you read this book. What I would suggest is you reach out for help and listen to those that love you and only wish the best for you.
I am not a psychologist, so what I share with you about gambling addiction is only based on what I have seen and experienced during my gambling career. I have experienced addictions in many forms throughout my lifetime and have suffered through their effects. I have been addicted to video games, fishing, hunting, driving fast cars, and addicted to work to the point I have been called a workaholic. After all, is not the meaning
