About this ebook

Six thousand years ago, God pronounced a curse upon this earth because of Adam's disobedience in Eden. The message of this book is a clarion call to twenty-first-century man to obey God's four commands given in Eden whereby evil will be held in check. God got this author's attention to write this book by one word spoken in his ear. It was back in 2011, he heard one word""write. The author did not know what subject God wanted him to write about, but then the impression came to his mind to write about creation and the fall of man. God gave man four commands! Number 4 is not really a command. It is really following God's example of resting and worshiping. If man worshiped God and held His name in sanctity, that would virtually wipe out crime and divorce. True worshipers will honor those two words of commitment that they made at the wedding altar"""I do." See Genesis 1:31. Crime and divorce, gone. Number 3 command is reproducing and subduing the earth (Gen. 1:28). The number 2 command is not to eat what God forbid (Gen. 2:16""17 and 1:29""30). Daniel adhered to this (Dan. 1:8). Command number 1 (work) is in Genesis 2:15""16. Dress the garden and keep it. God gave Adam a world that was "very good" while the twenty-first-century man has a world that is very bad. God is saying to twenty-first-century man, "If you keep what you are doing, you will keep getting what you are getting. Obey my commands and eat the good of the land." The message of the book? Honor God's creation. Love Him with all your heart, soul, and body and your neighbor as yourself. When the twenty-first-century man lives this way, evil will be held in check, and world conditions will improve.

The Voice Said, "Write" - Erith Catlin

    Chapter 1

    The Missing Link

It has been revealed to me through divine revelations that the creation story is the missing link that would add impetus to the preaching of the Gospel. Creation and redemption are two aspects that enable men to fully understand their relationship to God and to other human beings. If the masses of humanity understood the creation story of Genesis 1 and 2 and all that is involved therewith, there would be a complete revolutionary change in the world. It is difficult for our minds to have a right concept of God if we do not see Him as our Creator and Sustainer. When we see Him as Creator and Sustainer, we will honor and adore Him as we ought. When our minds grasp this truth in regard to our relationship to our Creator, we will realize that we are connected to other human beings and to all creation. Seeing oneself in the context of creation adds depth and meaning to the life as nothing else can. As it were, a light goes off in our minds and hearts and souls that changes us into kinder, gentler human beings. There will be an inner motivation that will impel us to see the beauty in other human beings—we will want to treat them with brotherly love and respect, realizing that they are our brothers and sisters. There is a lot of hostility in this world, and consequently, living conditions need to change for the better. They will change only when individuals decide to love God with their whole heart and their neighbor as they love themselves.

    I Took the Medicine

A few years ago, I visited the doctor because of blurry vision in my right eye, which occurred rather suddenly. It actually occurred overnight. After examining me, the doctor prescribed medication to lower my blood sugar, which was two times higher than what it should have been. He said the elevated blood sugar was the cause of my blurry vision and that when my blood sugar returned to normal, that would take care of my blurred vision. My heartfelt belief in the doctor’s diagnosis motivated me to take the prescribed medication. And in a short time, I regained sight in my right eye just as he said.

My decision to follow the doctor’s advice provides a spiritual lesson for all of us. Mankind must take the medication that God prescribed in order to regain the life that was lost in the garden of Eden. The entire human family is doomed for eternal death because Adam disobeyed God’s command. God told Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but he disobeyed God’s command and was sentenced to eternal death. This death sentence fell on the entire human race also. Eternal life was lost in Eden, and it needs to be regained. God provides a remedy so that mankind can escape eternal death and regain eternal life. That remedy is the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. His death would pay for Adam’s disobedience, and in order for individuals to benefit from this sacrifice of Jesus Christ, each single individual must believe in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.

The spiritual prescription that God has provided for man’s spiritual problem is belief–belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The real issue is that mankind does not comprehend that there is a spiritual problem that can be cured by the spiritual remedy that God has provided. There is no other solution.

Those who understand their predicament have taken the medication that God has provided and have secured eternal life for themselves, as John 3:16 (emphasis mine) says, "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

Getting back to my experience of the blurred vision, if I did not recognize that I have a problem, I would not have gone to the doctor. Only those who are sick need a physician. The entire world is spiritually sick and need a spiritual physician, but they are not aware of it. It is time for each one of us to recognize our predicament, weigh our options, and make a decision for eternal life on the one hand and eternal death on the other. We need to recognize that we have a problem that will not go away unless we take action. Each person must make a decision, and failing to do this is deciding against. Each one of us was born with the spiritual tag of eternal death attached to us. Let us make the choice to have that tag removed from us by believing in Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.

    Chapter 2

    The Creation Story

    Truth

If the story of creation was understood, the heart of man would repent of its sin. The power of creation is irresistible. Perhaps my point is best made by way of a question. Without this story, how would beings know about heaven and earth, about the mighty oceans, about night or day, about the wonders of nature, about animals, and about the Creator Himself? Man would not know how he got here. Some may say science, but does science have all the answers?

The creation story tells about the beginning of life. It tells how we got into the mess we are in. It also gives us the ray of hope as to how we can get out of this mess.

It is truly the greatest story ever told, and most certainly the most important one, and it should not be tampered with.

This story is about life, and it is about death.

Can science tell us how to escape the mess we are in?

If the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Ps. 11:3)

The creation story is where we find the foundation of life, and if the foundation of life is undermined, like a building, life will come crashing down.

    Salient Points of Creation

The creation story admonishes us to rest in the finished work of Jesus. The soul needs rest from the burden of sin. The Creator did not need rest from the physical work of creation, but we have the example of spiritual rest from sin.

The daily divine presence of God was a blessing to the holy pair, and we too need that presence in our lives.

Procreation and human companionship was a gift that God gave Adam in the person of Eve. It was given before sin erupted.

The good news of redemption and reconciliation was given to the pair in their darkest hour of despair. The seed of the woman will bruise the serpent’s head. More about this later.

The never failing result of disobedience to God’s commands came into play

Not many details are given, but Adam was blessed with the privilege of living in a nonhostile environment. The sun was not too hot. I imagine that there was gentle breeze throughout the day and night, work was pleasant and refreshing, and there was no sweat on his brow after a day’s work. Plenty food was available from any of the trees of the garden, with one exception. He had dominion over all the animals, and the lion was just as friendly as the lamb. Fear never entered his mind. He had it made.

    Friendly Visitor

One day a young woman named Mary, about sixteen years of age, received a friendly visit from a stranger. This visitor told her that she would conceive a baby in her womb, and it would be a boy. He would be the son of the Most High (Luke 1:31–33) and would be given the throne of David, His father. He would reign over the house of Jacob forever.

Her response to this message was, How can this be, seeing I have never had a relationship with a man? In Luke 1:35, the stranger responded, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee. And that holy thing which will be born of thee is the Son of God. As it turned out, this stranger was the angel Gabriel, and God had sent him with that special message to Mary. Four thousand years prior to this angel’s visit in the garden of Eden, God had told the serpent that the seed of the woman would crush his head. Those words came from the mouth of God, Who cannot lie. This message by Gabriel to Mary is fulfillment of Genesis 3:15. The seed of the woman, not of a mortal man, would provide a redeemer for Adam’s fallen race (Luke 1:35). Jesus is your Redeemer. He died for you (see Isaiah 53:6).

God has laid on Him, that is the seed Jesus, the iniquity of us all. You need only to believe Him and you will be reconciled to God. The choice is yours, dear reader. You do not have to bear your own sins.

Is there a God? Is the Bible authentic? You decide. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. (See Romans 6:23.)

Earlier in the chapter, I spoke about the foundation of life. We say a lot about health but very little about life. What good is it without life? I do not have the answer to this question. Where did it come from? What is its origin? How did it get started? Usually individuals place emphasis on taking care of their health without mentioning their life. But Jesus posed this question: is not the life more than meat? He also stated in John 10:10, I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.

Recently a grown man entered the newsroom of an Annapolis daily newspaper and shot to death five newspeople. This is one example of individuals who do not value life. Unless you have your head buried in the sand as does the ostrich, you will realize that our world is in a mess.

The story of creation makes sense to me, not because of its appeal to my logic but because of its appeal to my heart. If the human mind understood the story of creation, the human heart would respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit speaks to the man’s heart
