Walking and Talking with Jesus One Day at a Time: A Devotional Thought For Every Day
()
About this ebook
I have always loved writing poetry, and I have always written poems for my family and friends for different special occasions in a rhyming format. But ever since I was baptized and became a Christian, I felt this urge in my heart to put into words how good it makes me feel as I talk with Jesus every day! I read my Bible every day, and I love the New Testament! I always read a small booklet called Our Daily Bread, which has scriptures and a short one-page story for each day of the month. I was inspired by this little book. I really enjoy reading it. I'm hoping my book will make it easier for the working people to get in a little time to talk to our Lord and Savior every day. On their way to work, they ride the bus or if they carpool, or maybe even during their lunchbreak. I also hope to reach retired people who might be at home alone and might find some comfort by reading my book. It might also help them learn where a few passages are in the Bible.

Acknowledgments
I would like to say a big thank-you to Jesus Christ,
without whom I would never have had the
courage to write this book.
I want to express my love and thanks to my children:
Cisco, Donna, Tim, and Arron,
for believing in me and spurring me on.
And last but not the least, my pastor and all of my friends
who attend Bible study with me for their
ongoing support.
JANUARY
Day 1
Good morning, Jesus! It is a beautiful day today! I know that you are with me today as I walk with you. I will be content no matter what this day may bring,
No matter how much pain or sadness I may have to endure, it is nothing compared to the pain you went through! That is why I lift up my voice in gratitude and I sing.
On the days when I feel sad, sick, or lonely, or when I’m just feeling down, I pick up my pencil and I begin to write.
Today, Jesus, I hear the Holy Spirit telling me, Keep going, keep praying, and I will help you win this fight.
jesus suffered, died, and rose again to show us how to love.
Day 2
Good morning, Jesus. Today I praise you for all you have created—the world we live in, the planets, the sun, the moon, and especially, our beautiful stars. I praise you, and I thank you!
Following God’s road on earth is not easy. We can only do as much as we can and hope that our good works, our faith in God, our prayers, and working on our plan to forgive whoever it is we need to forgive is enough to get us to Heaven. It’s what we have to do!
Every day of our lives, we have to deal with changes of one kind or another, but as long as we have you in our lives, we are able to adapt to these changes. You are our fortress and our rock.
Yesterday is gone; tomorrow isn’t here yet. All we have is today. We can choose, today, to do good. Jesus, we know you are on duty twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, twelve months a year. You are there for us every day of our lives, around the clock!
our father in heaven is our rock and our soft place to land.
Day 3
Good morning, Jesus. Here I am again. I will put a smile on my face, a clip to my step, and a twinkle in my eye. And thank you for giving me the life you have given me. Today, Jesus, I know whoever is reading this book might also need your help and your love.
Fill them with love and joy and give them hope. I put off writing this book for a long time. I couldn’t get started because you knew it was not my time yet. Today, Jesus, I thank you and praise you for giving me a little shove.
I had to wait for your time.
Only you knew when I was ready. I had to go through the fire in order to be made pure, like silver and let the words just flow.
In Matthew 26:38, when you were in a place called Gethsemane, Jesus, you said, My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of Death. Stay here and keep watch with me.
When you returned to your disciples and found them sleeping, you said, Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?
You asked Peter. I know your heart was breaking, but God said you had to do this because of our sins. You knew you had to go.
give praise to our lord—his love is everlasting.
Day 4
Jesus, you had big dreams for Joseph’s life, and you didn’t hesitate to tell him about them. I know you have big dreams for all of us as well. We are your first priority. We just have to live the dreams you have for us and do the best we can do.
You want us to choose the right path and adjust our course. I know it will be difficult, but when we put you first, I know you will be there to help us get through whatever it is. All we have to do is have faith in you.
When we make the wrong choices that take us off the course, you don’t ever lose hope. You still want us to spend eternity in your heavenly home.
You are a God of forgiveness and love. When we give our life to you Jesus, the weight we have been carrying on our shoulders will feel as light as foam.
i know my sheep and my sheep know me!
Day 5
Good morning, Jesus! The sun is shining on the clean white snow this morning! How beautiful and white the snow is, as it glistens and sparkles on the ground.
When I look at the mountains, I smile and I thank you, Jesus, for creating such majesty. My heart fills up, and I know that the Holy Spirit is what I’m feeling inside me as I look around.
I am at peace with everything now, and I try to be happy, no matter what I may have to go through on this day.
I know that you, Jesus Christ, are right beside me. You will help me get through it, somehow some way.
give thanks to our lord every day for the things we have.
Day 6
Good morning, Jesus! I know that you are with us every day of our lives. All we have to do is have faith in you and things will be easier to bear.
You will never forsake us or abandon us. You are the one we can count on. Your word is the one we can believe. Heavenly Father, you really do care.
We will always be faced with some kind of turmoil. Life isn’t always easy. We cannot change the cards we were dealt—only how we play the hand.
We need to smile every day, even if we don’t feel like it. Somehow, when we smile, we feel better, and it makes others feel better also. As we know, when we could not go on anymore, that is when you carried us. It was only your footsteps we saw in the sand.
we are so blessed to live in this country.
Day 7
Good morning, Jesus! I know that we are not supposed to question you, but when things get difficult, the first thing I say is, Why me?
Then I think of all the things you went through for me, and I say, Why not me?
And I get on my knees and talk to you.
I know there are others who are a lot worse off than I am. Then I say, Forgive me, Jesus.
I go into my bedroom, change my clothes, and clear my mind by going for a walk. Walking is what the doctors want me to do.
The minute I said, Why me?
my friend from South Dakota called to tell me that she was just diagnosed with stomach cancer! Then a few weeks later, her daughter called and told me that my friend had a stroke after the chemo treatments! My problems then seemed so insignificant. I know how blessed I am.
As usual, you answered my prayers, just not the answer I was looking for. Guess, I’ll take a break, say a prayer, and eat my toast with strawberry jam.
god shows us a little bit of heaven every day.
Day 8
Good morning, Jesus! Today I asked myself, Am I content?
That is a difficult thing to achieve. We try to do this with food, drink, entertainment, friends, or love. We know that nothing on this earth can bring us total contentment, yet while we are here, we can achieve happiness and peace.
If we read our Bible every day, talk to you, Jesus, imitate the things you have taught us to do, and stop worrying about having more things
and be content with what we do have, our questions will cease.
In order to be truly happy, we need to learn how to give instead of take, help instead of complain, and then we can acquire the peace we want. When my life started to change, I knew it wasn’t my doing. I knew that you were the one.
We all have the hope that we still have time to work toward having a room in your Father’s mansion when our time on earth is done.
have faith in the lord, for he is the great i am!
Day 9
Morning, Jesus! Every day I spend with you is one step closer to heaven. Today, I will do my best to thank you for everything you give me, even my pain and sorrow.
I realize that without the hardships, I would never appreciate the good things. I have had both good and bad in my life. Thanks to you, God, I always have something to look forward to tomorrow.
Lord Jesus, you give us so many chances to change our lives and to be happy with what we have. I want to thank you for what you have given us.
We are so blessed to live in America, we have so much more than other countries have. If we wake up in the morning and our car doesn’t start, we have the choice, the opportunity, and the money they may not have. We know that we can always catch a taxi or a bus.
be a witness for jesus christ today—he will never betray us.
Day 10
Good morning, Jesus! We tend to envy people whom we think seem to have everything . Instead of being happy for them, we let jealousy interfere, and we say, Why them? They don’t do anything for anyone,
They never come to church,
They never help the poor,
Their kids are always ditching school.
Do we really know them? I believe we were taught to walk a mile in their shoes,
not throw stones at glass houses,
turn the other cheek,
love our neighbor as ourselves.
Jesus, you taught us to love, and I think that is the very best rule!
Jesus, you breathe life into us always. You forgive us over and over again, and we are given a clean slate every day.
You give this to us freely. All we have to do is accept this gift and put it into practice in your way.
be aware! god has plans for all of us!
Day 11
Good morning, Jesus! I know that your Father is mighty enough to ignite the sun every morning, so I have to believe he is mighty enough to guide me every day on my new and wonderful path!
God loves with unconditional love, but he is also a jealous God. And when we allow ourselves to conform to the worldly ways of this earth, and we ignore his teachings—his will and his laws—he is capable of coming down on us with all his wrath!
Most of the time, the giving of our love depends on the person receiving
our love. We don’t love just because! We tend to love if—if they do what we want them to do and if they say what we want them to say. So we allow them to regulate our thoughts and our love.
God loves us always! Jesus, you said, My Father himself loves you, he loves you because you loved me.
God’s love is pure—100 percent true love from heaven up above!
love god or love the world—your choice.
Day 12
Today is another beautiful day, Jesus! Because I am still here to enjoy it! Sometimes I think I pray for too many things. At the same time, I know you will answer all of them as long as we have faith in you. Although, as I’ve said before, you answer our prayers as you know they need to be answered, not always in the way we would like.
Jesus, your Father, is a loving God and a caring God, and he knows us better than we know ourselves. He protects us every day and every night. We have to realize that when things don’t go our way, it is sometimes for the best! If we are honest with ourselves, we know he is the only one who can see tomorrow. That’s why we have to learn to walk before we can run and prepare well before we take a mountain hike.
trust in the lord your god with all your heart.
Day 13
Good morning, Jesus. Getting old is not always easy. We cannot renew or restore the aging process, but you can. You restore my soul!
Jesus, only you can reform
or restore.
You are in control of our hopes and our dreams. Keeping my eyes on you is my goal.
We can be saved, if we accept you as Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
All you ask is that we love you as you love us and to love our brothers and sisters as we love ourselves. Can we do this?
God the Father gave you up to be sacrificed for our sins! You are the only one who is perfect and without sin. We are not good enough to bend down and give your sandals a kiss.
place god first in everything you do.
Day 14
Morning, Jesus! Today, I was thinking that we are like jurors in a court of law. Just as we are instructed in the courtroom, not to judge a person by their appearance or the way they speak, but to be certain beyond a shadow of a doubt
that they committed the crime. Our task as Christians is to speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help us God.
All forms of prejudice we are taught to loath.
We are also witnesses, and like witnesses in court, we are called to testify. The only difference between a witness in court and a witness for Christ
is the one in court leaves the courtroom after the trial. We as witnesses for Christ
must never leave his side. He doesn’t leave our side, and we always need to remain under His oath.
we all have access to god.
Day 15
Jesus, I know there are many times we pray and then say, He’s not going to answer me. I just know it.
What kind of a prayer is that? What do we expect, if that is the way we pray? We sabotaged ourselves
