Poems of Nature, Dreams, Memories and Life Thoughts from Within - Harv Allen
YAH DERE EH!
Red pine on Sandy dome,
Above our first home,
With spongy pine Forest,
When you’re walkin’ alone,
Among the Majesty,
Of our Forest home,
Is the Essence of Life,
When in Forest Throne,
Above the clatter,
Of our Country home,
Is the Call of the Woods,
To our second home.
FIELDS OF GLORY
I’d walk through the meadow
When I was a kid
Chasin’ the butterflies
An’ other insects that hid
Below the tall grass
As all kids once did
Only to find
Along this tall grass
Are bees and hornets
That will kick ’ur ass
But that didn’t stop me
I’d still trod along
Singing to myself
Amid this sunlit throng
Waiting for the twilight
When moon rises above
To fish that stream
In the darkness of night
Along the banks
’Til morning delight
SCENES
Won’t be long till frost in the air
Slowly melts along these streams
Beginning new life along the banks
Of these beautiful wildlife scenes
CLOUDS
Ominous faces in the clouds today
Looking down upon us along their way
Searching for the blue sky
As they’ve lost their way
They turn angry and dark
To splash our way
As they float above us
We’re not scared we play
’Til the anger of the dark clouds
That burst from within
Come crashing down upon
Our world full of sin
AUTUMN SKIES
Burnt orange of the sun
At this time of year
Shining over canopy
Of forest so dear
Will take your breath away
When you come here
The changes of colors
Radiant and clear
Pristine waters
Still run here
Color all around
Leafs fall without sound
’Til the rustle of creatures
Those leafs on the ground
Still the leafs fall
Fall without sound
Until those creatures
Pound on the ground
To play in the leaves
That your childhood found
BEYOND THE HORIZON
Beyond the Horizon
The Beauty of Sun sets,
O’er the Great lakes
Gold / Blue reflects,
An’ Spring off the Water
Evening Sky deflects,
The Beauty of Nightfall
O’er water at Sunset.
WINTER MOSS
The amber waters of
Tahquamenon still flow,
Spraying its rainbow mist
Through the ice and snow.
Bringing to life the beauty
This Winter Nature Show.
BIRDS IN THE SPRING
As the green grass grows
In early spring
An’ the robins return
For that earthworm thing
The little birds nest
On the porch
In the spring
To give joyous sounds
In early morning sun
Waking to the singing
Of birds having fun
Is the inspiration
Of life on the run
THE SPACE BETWEEN
Coming upon the opening
Of this sight between the brush
Will fill your mind wide open
To the stillness of the rush
At the things you see wide open
When others feeling the crush
Of humanity down under
Yet here you see the gush
The World we were given when
The good Lord thought of us
WATCHING
Watching Eagles soar
O’er this Glorious stream
Are things I adore
In this Beautiful scene.
The fish are about
Calm water’s protection
Along the banks
Your line misdirection.
Yet you don’t care
You’re breathing fresh air
Along the banks
With time to spare.
GREENERY
I love the greenery of the spring
After a long winter in
That cold dark air
The beauty of spring
Are the birds everywhere
Then come the butterflies
Whose cocoons they emerge
To float with the wind
In the beauty of spring
The fish are bitin’
The frogs a’ croakin’
As you stand by that stream
With your line in the water
Lookin’ at the stars
To no one you bother
WATCH THOSE OWLS
As the sun starts sinking low
Beyond that Western sky,
Cries of the coyotes in the field
Say nighttime is nearby.
So think of the raccoons,
Skunks, opossums, and cats.
When the Great Owl looms,
Her nest becomes fat.
So protect your small dog.
She knows where it’s at!
YOOPER COUNTRY
It was great to be at camp
Even after five days of rain
Then the snow came on the sixth day
Which makes these beautiful colors
Arise even when no sun.
Pure Michigan—Da U.P. baby
Our place in the wilderness
Living in the forest
Among the animals—fresh breeze
Certain serenity under the trees
The October colors
Will certainly astound
As you drive through the forest
In dis U.P. playground
THE GOOD LIFE
Peshekee Grade in da U.P.
Brings back memories
Of my childhood it seems
Sittin’ on Grandpa and Uncle’s knees
Waiting to wake up and fish that stream
Fresh trout for breakfast with Grandma’s hand
Putting the warmth in that frying pan
We walk these trails alone in the woods
With beauty and splendor all around
This is Good
SERENITY OF NATURE
The serenity of nature
Along the banks of a stream
Even though the sounds
Sometimes make you scream
Waiting for that trout to
Rise from down under
Only to find you’ve fallen asunder
To the Nature around you
Bring on that thunder
FOREST OF BEAUTY
You walk through these woods
A forest of beauty
To search for the reason
Your soul and sworn duty
To find life’s answer
In this forest of beauty
You must inhale this fresh air
To clear your mind
Then sit back and relax
At the stars that do shine
BIG LAKE RUSTLING
The big lake is rustling
Waves crashing to shore
Above those blue waters
The sun sets in aglow
That nothing else matters
When the north wind blows
AMONG THE CORNSTALKS
Walkin’ among the cornstalks
In that summer breeze
The heat of the sun an’
Pollen make you sneeze
Beneath the blue sky
You chase the crows
Zigzagging in and out
Between those corn rows
Hope parents are late
So you continue to grow
May is lurking
So are the trout
Time to go north
To seek them out
AS DAWN BREAKS
As dawn breaks o’er that misty stream
The bank of the river in front of you
As the morning sunshine gleams
Through the fog, frost, and dew
Silhouette of the buck on the other
