About this ebook

Some write journals or diaries of their lives to never forget; to highlight their lives and bring back memories they cherish. Others write to relive traumatic events. It's sad that writing in general is therapeutic. I write these music reviews because they bring value to my life. I write these music critiques to add additional substance to good

    CHAPTER ONE:

    HIP-HOP SAVED MY LIFE

I remember when I was younger and I first heard Hip -Hop come out of my Bradless special radio speakers. I was hypnotized. I can't really explain it. I just knew it had taken over my soul and I wanted more. I was addicted already. This was the time I used to be out in the streets being a bad boy before Biggie Smalls. Hanging on the corners, up to no good. I thought I was tough and a ladies’ man. Wrong! LOL! If it wasn't for Hip-Hop being on the radio at night, I’m not sure where I would be. Homeless, in jail, or dead perhaps. I would record the shows during the late hours when rap would finally come on. You have to remember that Hip-Hop was supposed to be a fad. If anyone knows the radio stations that saved my life in Boston & New York, let me know. My memory is so bad.

I recorded on cassette tapes and with a boombox. Look them up, KIDS. My friends at the time used to get mad at me for missing all the night-time action - and it wasn’t the House on the Prairie action either; it was more like The Wire.

I'm so blessed the genre of rap has entered my domain and Hip-Hop has become me. It saved my life. Many of my friends either were killed, locked up or injured pretty badly in the mean streets of Boston.

My path changed, thanks to legends like EPMD, L.L. Cool

J, Fat Boys, Salt and Pepa, MC Lyte, Public Enemy, KRSONE, De La Soul, Slick Rick, Dougie Fresh, Nas, Jay-Z, Biz Markie, Rakim, Run DMC, Whoodini, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Kool Herc, Sugar Hill Gang, and more. Thank you, pioneers of Hip-Hop. I love and respect your journeys. They’ve made my music journey pleasant, happy and enjoyable. I'll be reviewing projects, EPs and albums, speaking on the evolution of Hip-Hop and everything in between. Thanks in advance for joining my journey.

    CHAPTER TWO:

    BUSSA BUS (WRITTEN 10/31/2020)

This was the ultimate surprise for the world of HipHop - Busta Rhymes returned to the mic after eight years. His last solo album was 2012's Year of the Dragon. This latest album is the continuation of his 1998 album E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event): The Final World Front. Join me while I break down the legendary lyricist below.

Review: Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God

Busta announced this album with comic legend Chris Rock. He shared the good news on social media, which showed Mr. Rock bragging about Mr. Rhymes before revealing the album title. Now that it is out and about, let’s discuss.

E.L.E. 2 Intro Ft. Chris Rock, Rakim and Pete Rock

This has to be the longest intro before we even hear an instrument or beat. It sounds like a movie, which isn't a far stretch when talking about Busta. All his visuals are usually over-the-top. Chris Rock has been yelling about Busta's album since it was announced, for good reason. This track is interesting, with how Busta and producer Nottz tackles the sounds and beat switches. When Rakim starts to flow, I'm already 100 percent into this project.

The R rhymes over The World is Yours by Nasir Jones giving us Hip-Hop goose bumps in wonder of, what if. What if ``The God MC" was on the original? Mind  blowing.

    The Purge

Produced by 1/2 of Verzus Swizz Beatz, along with Avenue Beatz, this one minute and 10 second song is cool. It breaks up the 8-minute song we just had. I’ll give this song equivalent play as a record. Not skippable, just too short.

    Strap Yourself Down

J Dilla and Pete Rock make this third track sound so inflamed that my ears still are hot. And the way they changed the beat on Busta while he continued to murder the mic was special. Love this record. And the way Busta sounds, it’s refreshing and lively. Busta has to have the most energy on the mic as the next mc you believe. His tone is loud, but clear and consistent.

    CZAR Ft. M.O.P.

Rockwilder continued the party with this bass-heavy banger, with M.O.P. in the background making the track more tougher than Run D.M.C's leather. There's a video to this track that makes other videos look like elementary visuals. Busta’s growl is in the top five in the world of music. And let’s not believe, he cannot out-bar the old to the new mc’s. I’ll put Busta up for versus against your best.

Outta My Mind Ft. Bell Biv Devoe

I like the way Busta and producer Dready chop up this Bell, Biv Devoe track, but I thought this was going to be an original track. I'm from Boston, so I was really excited. I’m sure BBD or New Editon’s schedule was open. They could have added something new to the track. I'm going to have to fall back on this joint, but it's still a dope concept.

E.L.E. 2 The Wrath of God Ft. Minister Louis Farrakhan

Busta and Nottz are on this track. It's always a great pleasure to hear the Minister on any track - he's been fighting for the Black culture since birth. Busta was due a track about the political bullshit we are going through, and this joint actually keeps my attention throughout. And if you follow the movement of righteousness, please do your research. Read books and find out the true history of this cruel world. Have strength to do the right thing through your voice, like Busta Rhymes is doing. And if you cannot speak, find a way to make a positive impact.

    Fight for what’s right.

Slow Flow Ft. Old Dirty Bastard

Nottz goes solo this time. When I saw the track list prior to this album, I was mad excited to hear some new lyrics from ODB. You have to remember that there are usually unreleased tracks from people that pass away, but this was not one of them. It still was a favorable joint that I enjoyed. Busta spits various classic album cover titles, giving props to other Hip-Hop legends. The video
