    Preface

This book has arisen from the fact that in June 2020 I was forced to take early retirement from teaching in education following 32 years. Whilst this decision was hard to accept, I felt it was important to comply with my doctor’s advice. If you are to be an effective educator, then you need to be functioning at 100%, anything less is an insult to your pupils.

Once I realised this by agreeing to retire, I was still operating as a professional by putting the needs of my pupils first. This was my mantra throughout my 32 years of teaching.

Over the years I was sent on many different training courses of the latest education approaches and guiding theories which happened to be in favour at any one time.

In this book, I hope to share those approaches or theories which I feel have made the most contribution to making my teaching more effective and my pupils’ learning more efficient.

At no time do I claim that the approaches within this book are my own. If I remember the theory or approach, I will reference them.
