Chapter 1
It was a sold-out concert. Standing room only to see the world tour of Binnie and the Jets. They had become the world’s greatest rock band just a few years after Quinn had formed the group. Every song the band released became a number one hit. The first album went gold. The second album soared to a platinum rating. The third album rocketed past the first to hit the diamond rating. The iTunes servers crashed the night the last album was released because too many fans hit the Internet at once to download the album.
The tightly packed crowd was getting restless waiting for Binnie to take the stage. Spotlights flashed around the stage as if they were looking for the rock star. The crowd began to take up a unison chant of, Binnie! Binnie! Binnie!
As the chant swarmed throughout the crowd, the noise turned into a thunderous roar. Now people were chanting and clapping the name Binnie!
As the thundering sound of the crowd chanting swelled within the outdoor stadium, the people began stomping their feet, clapping their hands, and shouting, Binnie! Binnie! Binnie!
The sound became a constant thunder that seemed to connect to the spotlight’s lighting effect on the stage.
Binnie and the Jets’ manager walked out behind the curtain and stepped into the spotlight. He held up his hands with a motion asking for silence. The man was tall and wore a white suit, a blue shirt, and a yellow tie. The crowd quieted a bit, but most people continued to chant, clap, and stomp in unison. She’s on her way,
Binnie’s manager shouted over the sound system. My name is Rappin’ Rymin’ Rickey, and I am Binnie’s manager,
Rickey said. He held his hands up over his head. She is on her way,
Rickey repeated, hoping someone would listen to his message. But she’s stuck in traffic on the I-90 Freeway. She should be here soon.
Rickey waved his outstretched hands.
As Rickey walked off the stage, the sound of the crowd grew louder.
What are we going to do?
asked Carlo, one of the stagehands.
If you don’t do something, they will tear the place apart,
screamed Tom, another stagehand. I know, I know,
replied Rickey. The sound grew even more deafening as the crowd became restless, waiting for Binnie the Super Star.
Suddenly a thundering whirling sound could be heard overhead. Everyone looked up as a helicopter appeared high above the stage. A spotlight focused on the side door of the hovering helicopter. The band members of the Jets ran onto the stage
