To everyone who became the harbinger to these chaotic ideas to make this book existent.

    Prologue: Days of Future’s Past

Today, I decided it was finally time to make another food hunt. It had only been two months since I had last left my house, but it seemed like an eternity. The rain that had begun to fall two years ago now continued. Thankfully, this white blanket covered the destruction, and the gore etched into the pavement by the events in my world. I lived in a suburb on the outskirts of a metropolis, or instead, it was a metropolis.

No one was around anymore. I remained the only resident of a once-bustling city as far as I knew. It would have seemed weird to me years ago, but no longer, not after seeing all that I have. I proceeded into the open in the middle of the street in front of my home. That way, I could keep track of everything surrounding me with my ornate sword at my side, and I trekked on. The winds blared up, causing the cold to become just short of unbearable.

As I continued, I passed the houses of people I had once known. Several of the final newspapers could be seen just peeking out of the streets showing the lack of residents. They were all dead now, killed by a power beyond them, beyond even me. A power that had been beyond me when I hadn't discovered my true potential.

I read once before everything is doomed that humans only use 10% of their brain. Scientists later disproved the theory except my abilities. Everyone is born differently with particular unlocked potential that they will be able to use as they grow. I only learned I had such powers when I was in danger.

The powers I'm speaking of are an advanced form of telekinesis. These abilities had lied dormant for so many years that triggering them would have taken a catastrophic event in the physical and the metaphysical world. Unfortunately, two years ago today, the world ended. I made out the headline at the top of the visible newspaper. Is this truly the end? and right below it, Goodbye?

To explain what happened, you need to go back to the beginning, about a week and two years ago.

    Future Tremors

Morning came quickly for me, and I was incredibly exhausted after getting eight hours of sleep. I took a shower, but this did little to wake me up. I put some clothes on and rushed down the stairs to have breakfast. A toast was all I could find, so I put it in and began to wait. My parents had left for work about an hour earlier, even leaving the newspaper on the counter. I picked it up and proceeded to read.

I was only barely concerned though it was horrible, people were dying, but I thought it had Nothing to do with my everyday life. I brushed off my mild discomfort and headed outside to my car. The greenery surrounding me was uncharacteristic for mid-November, and I shook this off and went to school. School was something I liked to pretend had Nothing to do with my future. This feeling ended up being infinitely right. The boredom that was associated with these feelings came as well.

Upon entering the building, I saw a guy I knew of but didn't know personally. He dressed strangely and was constantly ridiculed every day. Today, a long black trench coat with a hood shaded his face from view. Immediately after he passed, two jerks started laughing their heads off.

Did you just see what that dude was wearing?

    Yeah, man, what a!

The second stopped mid-sentence as he saw me sending him a steel-piercing glare. It seemed that I had always been able to do that, and it was a teacher trait. Giving the evil eye to people always seemed to work when I did it. I hoped it would make them reconsider mocking anyone else in the future. Having the ability to make people stop doing anything wrong without any words was handy.

About halfway through the day, a light earthquake rocked the school, causing us to seek refuge under our desks. Shortly after it ended, our principal, Mr. Wayne, came over to the intercom.

Um. What you just experienced was an earthquake. There isn't anything to worry about. The radio's only calling it about a 3.5 on the Richter Scale.

My friend, Rene Rodriguez, turned to me with a face of confusion.

What is he talking about? 'Nothing to worry about. We've never got an earthquake before.

Our teacher heard us and began to try and clarify, Well, that's true that earthquakes aren't indigenous to this area, but you have to remember that we live on a dormant fault line.

The New Fire fault line, right? I said.

    That's correct, Carl.

I remembered that I had been in a class studying plate tectonics some time ago, and our teacher had brought up the severe last earthquake felt in Rexal. It had been on the upper levels of the Richter Scale though I couldn't remember what they said it was. It was so bad that it had swallowed a town right on its own. Ironically, this town's name was Fiere, though far south of Rexal.

Principal Wayne came over the intercom again.

Although that quake, we all just felt, was minor, we will call off school for the rest of the day. However, all faculty are needed to stay for an emergency meeting. Class dismissed.

I packed up all of my things and put my backpack to my side as I walked out. Rene was waiting for me outside the door.

What are you going to do?

I'm going to go home and sleep. Maybe, do a little homework?

Nah! we both said in unison.

The parking lot was relatively empty when I got to my car. However, I saw a fellow student being pushed right by his car. I wasn't usually one to get involved in these kinds of things, but I knew the bully well. His name was Mark. It was supposed to relate to his interest in cryptocurrency, but I and most of the student body saw it as relating to his brain, just a pile of money. The kid he was picking on, I also knew. His name was Luke Smith. I didn't know him that well, but he was an overall friendly kid. He didn't deserve to get beaten up on his off day or any day. I approached Mark and pushed him away from the kid.

    Knock it off, Mark.

Damn you. He muttered under his breath.

We were about equally matched in strength, and his only advantage, it seemed, was his two goons behind him, but if their fearless leader were beaten up, they would not hesitate to flee. My advantage was my fighting experience. I had come from a school where fighting was an everyday occurrence.

He moved in close to try and intimidate me, but I pushed
