About this ebook
This story was originally published in The Moorhead Friends Writing Group Anthology, "Tales of the Frozen North".
Holly Frost has a problem. She can't make it snow in Innocent, Minnesota. As a descendant of Jack Frost, she should be natural, but something is very wrong. She needs help so she goes to Sheriff Andy Finn.
Andy Finn is a grouchy, not-yet hibernating bear shifter. All he wants is for the snow to fly so he can get some sleep, but it's forty degrees in December. When Holly Frost approaches him for help, he sets aside his dislike of the Frost family and does his job by taking her to a powerful elemental.
Holly must get over her fear of failure and Andy needs to change his misconceptions in order to create a Winter Wonderland.

Snow By Any Other Name - Tina Holland
Chapter One
Innocent, Minnesota
December 21st
Holly Frost was in trouble. She of all people should be able to make it snow. It was her job, though maybe it was more of a calling. Her current job was as a barista at Bear Tooth Tea & Coffee.
As a descendent of King Jack, she should be able to conjure snow in her sleep, but after a week of trying, she had failed. Now, the town would be in an uproar.
Her alarm continued to sound off as she stared out the window of her cabin in disbelief. Why wasn’t this working? Had some witch or powerful fae put a curse on her?
Holly had four days to create the white fluffy stuff, or some variation thereof. Snow, sleet, flakes, powder, graupel, whatever name—she needed to get some on the ground. She would settle for heavy hoarfrost at this point.
Her first year making snow solo and she couldn’t make it happen. Grandpa Jack thought she was ready, but maybe she needed help after all. She wasn’t about to let down the people, shifters, and fae of Innocent who depended on snow for their livelihood.
Holly turned off the blaring alarm and started the coffee pot. She would call her mom and see if the Frost family could send reinforcements.
She went to her closet and grabbed a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a sweatshirt that read ‘You, Innocent U’ for the local university. By the time she was dressed, there was enough coffee in the pot for a cup. She poured some and called her mother.
Her mother picked up on the second ring. Holly, what’s wrong?
Why should anything be wrong?
Holly couldn’t help the defensiveness that crept into her voice.
You only call when you need help.
Her mother answered with a pragmatism Holly wished she had right now. Her nerves
