What Are Western Values?: Superior Values Or Superior Military?
By Terry Nettle
()
About this ebook
Western politicians have been vociferous in touting the superiority of Western values, and are engaged in ruthless and coercive campaigns to impose these values on the rest of the world. But the Western values that they so strongly advocate now are really not their inheritance from the long and glorious Western Civilization that started in Greece more than 3000 years ago.
The new Western values that had evolved in the last two centuries in the West are not as noble as the Western traditional values that they claim to inherit. In fact, many of these new-fangled values are values that promote antagonism and conflicts, and are responsible for the out-of-control individualism, greed, drug epidemics and rampant inequality in the modern world.

1. Superior Western Values?
Incredibly, Western values today have become the byword for over-consumption, over-indulgence, over-glorification of ego and over-exploitation of mother Earth. Apparently, the traditional Western values of thrift, frugality, justice, modesty and generosity are gone forever today in the me-first, greed-is-good, rights-trump-responsibilities and get-rich-quick West.
2. Western Values Of Old
The current set of Western values are in fact very different from those practised for millennia by ancient people of the West which emphasize diligence, discovery, scholarship, honour, monarchy, loyalty, duty, courage and power.
Most of these old Western values are similar to the Christian values developed in the 1st century by Jesus Christ that he taught in the Christianity religion. The Christian values are such values as: Love God, Love your neighbor as yourself, Forgive others who have wronged you, Love your enemies, Ask God for forgiveness of your sins.
3. Evolution Of Christianity
Jesus Christ of Nazareth was born during the reign of the first Roman emperor, Augustus. He was persecuted for his preaching and was crucified under the reign of the second Roman emperor, Tiberius. Jesus Christ's birth is now commemorated worldwide as the beginning of the widely used Western
