    Dear Reader,

    I'm so glad you've returned!

    Today we must discuss Heroes, and what qualifies one for such a grand title.

    The very word conjures up images of blinding speed, incredible strength, and many more (largely physical) feats.

    That isn't the type of hero we will discuss today.

    No, this hero is of an entirely different sort.

    He accomplished amazing and earth shaking tasks with nothing more fearsome than a pen, a parchment, and his own God given wits.

    O you who have believed, be supporters of Allah

    Quran 61:14

    His name was Zayd [1].

    His father was called Thabit, and his mother an-Nuwar.

    Zayd ibn Thabit he was called, and may Allah be pleased with him.

    Known by the name of his father, though he was orphaned in early childhood.

    Raised by a devoted and upright mother, young Zayd was obedient, respectful, and very bright.

    He lived in the city known as Yathrib, a place of date palms and diverse cultures.

    There were many Arab tribes here, most with their own gods and idols.

    There were Jews, and Christians, people
