Stinking Cleaning

About this ebook
The book is set out similarly to a diary-come-recipe book, where either Clarissa or Steven talk about what they have learned from friends and relatives and write it down. They also list the requirements and process of each procedure as they go about cleaning and keeping house.
Subjects covered are the usual cleaning areas: the kitchen and bathroom. But the book also touches on other matters, such as providing recipes for natural cleansers as well as the best process for washing and ironing. It even explains how to keep Hi-Fi equipment clean.
All through the book are helpful hints on ways to save time and money, and explanations of old systems and strategies for running a home.
Stinking Cleaning is the perfect reference book for the younger generations who have not been taught to clean or keep house properly, as it explains the when, where and why of cleaning and house work.

Dedication
This book is dedicated to Myra Waldo whose cookery instruction for a newly married housewife inspired me to use the same process to explain about cleaning a home.

Acknowledgement
My first and main acknowledgement is to Myra Waldo, the famous cook and author of many cookery books. In one book, from which I took the idea of Stinking Cleaning, Myra gave advice to a newly married young housewife with words of wisdom and serving information before each set of relative recipes. Hopefully my book holds the same fascination to its readers as Myra’s book did for me.
As an author of many cleaning articles and books which cover home preparation for selling, and leasing of property, I have to acknowledge the customers and cleaners that were involved with my franchised cleaning company, The Duster Dollies Pty Ltd. When I started the business, I was a novice. Twenty-five plus years later, I have become the Guru of Cleaning in Australia, and have my customers and cleaners to thank for all my cleaning knowledge.
For all authors, family has to be the most significant people in our lives. Their tolerance, their support and of course that all-important advice which keeps us grounded and aware of what is happening outside our world is essential. Without the support, tolerance and beneficial advice from my husband, Kit Scally, none of my articles or books would have been written. Thank you, darling, for always being there for me.
And finally, thanks must go to the publisher of this book and you, the reader, who are the reason for me becoming an author in the first place.

Prologue
I hate cleaning. So does Steven, my boyfriend. Well, strictly speaking I suppose I should now refer to him as my fiancée and partner. We have moved in together and it does say ‘Clarissa and Steven’ on the nameplate at the front door. So it is now official.
Steven and I made the decision to live together a couple of months back. We are getting married next year and want to save to buy our own apartment. Living together was cheaper and easier. Also you might say it is giving us a trial run.
I did have some concerns with this. I’m a bit of a fussy lady when it comes to having a clean home, whereas Steven doesn’t seem to really care. I decided the only way I was going to be happy about us living together was for Steven and me to have an understanding about sharing things such as cooking, cleaning and housework.
As it turns out, Steven is a good cook, better than me, but he leaves such a mess which is usually left for me to clean up. I felt I had to come up with a plan: a sort of an agreement as to who would do what, when and how. But on second thoughts, I realised that could lead to arguments. So, to have everything neat and tidy, it wouldn’t be any good nagging, or doing it all myself. I had to come up with an idea where neither Steven nor I minded doing the work.
I made a decision it would help to write down what we do and how we overcome cleaning or housekeeping problems. This way we can both be sure we are using the best procedures. The internet is full of answers and there is always Steven’s and my mum to ask. Hopefully this way, Steven and I can work together at keeping the flat looking nice.

Bathrooms
First problem! Here it is two weeks since we moved in and things aren’t going well. Steven has a habit of leaving his clothes on the floor when he goes to bed. And, according to him, I never hang my towel up in the bathroom in such a way that it can dry out properly.
To overcome the clothes on the floor I thought I would try something I remembered my mum telling me years ago. All men need a chair in the bedroom to hang their clothes on.
I’m not sure why but I
