Few people are better placed than award-winning interior designer Kelly Hoppen to give advice on how to transform a home.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to give your home a facelift from the inside out,” Kelly tells HELLO! . “Reshuffle rooms and move the furniture to give a fresh look, swap cushions from bedrooms to the living room, and try new things. It’s incredible what rotating a few key pieces can do.”

She recommends thinking hard when giving walls a lick of paint.

“For bedrooms, keep colours calm to encourage you to be restful. Experiment with colour in rooms where you don’t spend as much time and where you won’t tire of a bold colour or print, such as studies or guest bedrooms. Play it safe with spaces like the kitchen and hallway, where you spend a lot of time and don’t want to repaint year on year.
