    Willingly Captured - Emily Kandelas

    Take Care

    Love, Brad Xx

Bianca was astounded with the money, grateful he had given this to her, but disappointed at the same time she couldn’t find it sooner. She stashed the other money she had made in the envelope with the other five hundred dollars and slipped the envelope down the front of her pants.

She pushed her bag up between the wall and her head and closed her eyes. Trying to block out the cold, she began to fantasise about buying warm clothes and a proper bag to carrying her items.

Suddenly, she had a realisation to travel up and down the coast busking, that way she could sleep on the train safely on her journeys.

She spent the next few months travelling up and down from Sydney to Newcastle every day. Sleeping on the train. She brought herself warm clothes and a proper duffle bag, which doubled as a pillow at night. She had managed to earn nine hundred and twenty-five dollars in tips, which she kept in a slim purse, down the front of her pants where no one would steal it.

No longer a virgin, she spent many weekend nights with drunk men in their homes or hotel rooms. To Bianca, it was a small price to pay for a warm bed and shower. She would often leave early hours in the morning without a sound. Bianca never bothered to learn their names; she just figured a girls got to do what a girl has to do. And this was the motto she vowed to live by.

Now she was eighteen, she thought life would be a bit easier on her. She travelled further, busking wherever she wound up. Up and down the coast of NSW, she sang and travelled by coach and trains, from Sydney to Newcastle, to Lithgow than back up past Coffs Harbour and all the way back down to Nowra. Staying at pubs and hotels. She really enjoyed her life, busking the streets, travelling and meeting locals. She was no longer the shy child she once was but a confident young woman.

Bianca no longer needed to rely on sleeping with men to sleep in a bed. Her eighteenth birthday, she booked her first hotel room. She used some of her busking money to buy a second-hand guitar from a pawnshop. The older style wooden guitar cost one hundred and fifty dollars.

She remembered her music lessons from school and remembered the chords and how to play very quickly. When she started busking with her guitar to compliment her voice, she began making even more money.

On her travels back from Nowra, the coach’s final destination was Lithgow. She scored herself a gig at a local pub. In return, she got free accommodation and dinner. This worked well for Bianca. She felt a little bit nervous standing on the small stage in front of an audience. It was harder to just close her eyes and zone out but Bianca conquered her nerves and performed just as well as she did on the streets.

The owners of the pub were an older gay flamboyant couple. Gareth was much older than Linden. Nevertheless, they were very much in love with each other.

The owners were impressed with her performance. They wanted to keep her on a more permanent basis. Bianca thought about the proposal, free accommodation and meals plus $250 per week. She really enjoyed travelling around, working on her schedule. But maybe it would be nice to stay put for a few weeks or months, she could even go get a day time job while she was here. This could be another new opportunity. She spoke to the owners and decided to stay.

Having a drink to celebrate her new opportunity with Gareth and Linden, Bianca felt safe in her new surroundings. She met the security guard Simon. He was a tall broad man. His face was chiselled and his eyes were dark. His voice deep and demanding, yet he was a soft guy on the inside.

Two of the bar chicks, Mindy and Laura, came over to introduce themselves to Bianca. Mindy was a tall blonde, with piercing blue eyes. She was slim and flat. Her body type did not match her bubbly personality. Mindy was loud and inquisitive. She knew gossip about every local who walked into the pub. Laura although bubbly was more down to earth than Mindy. She was a short red head with green cat eyes. Both were very welcoming and friendly.

Bianca who usually struggled keeping conversations with other people seemed to fit into this work family they had. The rest of the night, she smiled and got to know each of them.

After closing, Gareth showed Bianca to her room. Which she settled into straight away, said goodnight to Gareth and immediately fell asleep on the double bed.

The following afternoon, Bianca sat in her room. She was about to get ready for her first permanent gig. She had done her hair in a messy high bun, and kept her make up casual. She had tried on every piece of clothing from her limited amount in her duffle bag. She wanted to step it up a little, while actually living somewhere, she wanted to own a little more. So she went shopping.

She walked up the main street of Lithgow and found a small boutique. She walked inside and was greeted by the lovely older lady. She tried on many dresses and shoes till she found a perfect fit. She choose a tight black backless semi-formal dress, with silver stilettoes, she looked tall and confident. She wore the outfit like it was made for her. She got dressed back into her street clothes as the lady bagged her new outfit. Bianca paid the lady and walked out feeling good about herself. Walking back towards the hotel, she walked past a jewellers. She stopped, made a U-turn and walked into the shop. She brought a cheap silver bangle and silver necklace with a heart shape pendant.

Back in the hotel room, Bianca dressed into her new outfit, and added her new jewellery. She fixed up her makeup and hair, grabbed her guitar and walked down stairs.

She stepped up onto the stage with her guitar in hand. The lights turned down and the spot light was on her. She sparkled on stage as the room fell quiet listening to her angelic
