PREFACE
FROM THE COTTON FIELDS TO THE WHITE HOUSE
IN AND OUT OF OPPRESSION BUT
HOPE FOR ANOTHER DAY
THE FUTURE
These poems you are about to read are a collection of mixed thoughts at different times in my life. Some of them will make you fall in love, while others will make you cry or even furious. My first book, All Roads Lead to Your Heart
was the beginning of my writing that started in the 1970’s and my main focus was giving praise to all my beautiful black women, and all women of color that I didn’t feel were getting the respect and recognition that they deserved. Then I began to write about all the other things that made up the Black family. My heart is always with my black woman because, to me, she is the brightest star in the universe. The softness of the moonlights glow and are sweet as a million honey bees. For me she is the mother of the world and her DNA is in every human being walking on the face of this earth.
There is nothing that can compare with the black woman. I hope you enjoy my new collection of poems that started in the 1970’s to the present date. I’d like to say Thank You to the black woman for paving the way for all of us, black men. I’d like to Thank You for all of your sacrifices, struggles, heartache and pain that you endured. All the loads you had to carry for our black families. All the floors you scrubbed. All the rapes you suffered. All the tears you cried. All the beatings you took. For all this, there is nothing that I would not do for you. This book is dedicated to you, my Beautiful Black Woman. For you are and have always been in the forefront of my thoughts and my inspiration in all that feel compelled to write about.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
The book you are about to read would not be possible without giving thanks and a very special praise to those that inspired me to compile my thoughts as I put pen to paper. Whether it’s appropriate or inappropriate, does not matter to me because deep in my heart I must express my true feelings for all of the black women that have been in my life. I want to give them all the glory and praise that they truly deserve.
I first must give the greatest thanks to the creator, who secretly formed me in my mother’s womb, and to my mother, Hatti Moorer who brought me into this world and gave me my first breath of life. I’d like to thank my beautiful wife who has been by my side for over 50 years and has given me all of the inspiration and love that poured out through my fingertips.
All of the accomplishments and accolades have always come through the hands of the black women in my life. These beautiful black women who gave me guidance and direction and taught me how to love them, the way a woman should be loved. Also instilling in me how a black man should love his woman.
I would like to also give thanks to all of my fellow poets who gave me advice and encouragement to keep writing. A special thanks and shout out to my friend and fellow poet, Ted Wilson, who always gave me much needed constructive criticism and wisdom that helped and kept me on the straight path.
I certainly would be remiss if I did not mention, my very good friend, Ms. Christine Olds, for the long enduring hours she spent deciphering and reading over my poems. Without her dedication, this book would have surely been delayed in being published.
Thank you
Abdul Sunni Ghani

This book is dedicated to my wife, Dianne Williams Ghani
She is my inspiration and this comes from deep down in
my soul. Her personality, her sharp mind, her wisdom and
her warm caring of people are some of the qualities that
makes her the special woman she is. My wife is never selfish,
unwavering and is always giving of herself without hesitation.
The twinkle in her eye and her great sense of humor that
flows from her radiate smile, and the soft spiritual heavenly
glow that illuminates her face, lights up a room filled with
darkness. We will soon have fifty plus years together, and if I
may borrow a quote from the old saying "Like Fine Wine, It
Only Gets Better With Time". In essence, her being is that of a
