About this ebook

Bianca is flattered to have gained the attention of the alpha from a neighboring pack, until she finds out he expects her to fall in line with all his plans without question. She isn’t going to be his mate simply because he wants her, even if he is an alpha. She makes it clear that he’s going to have to do more than growl the word “mine” to convince her to give him a chance. When he proves he’s willing to jump through more than one hoop to get her attention, she has to decide how far she wants to go. Will she be satisfied with a few unforgettable nights, or will she agree to be his because she can’t imagine him not belonging completely to her?

    Chapter One

Bianca looked up from her computer when she felt a presence looming behind her. She stood up right away and bowed her head in greeting when she saw Tristan, her pack’s alpha, in the doorway of her office.

Good morning, Alpha, she said. I didn’t know you were coming by today.

Tristan grinned at her. I didn’t either, but I have very important pack business to take care of. He strode over to the window and gazed out to the city below.

What can we help you with, Alpha? she asked. He seemed to hesitate, something she’d never seen him do before.

You’re the one who can help me, Bianca. He turned to look at her. At least, I hope you can.

Tell me how I can help.

It’s Daniel, the alpha of the pack we’re trying to merge our business interests with.

She nodded. Yes, I met him and his beta last week.

And today his beta came to see me. He’s ready to sign so that our construction firms can begin working side by side on some very big projects in the valley and beyond. But there’s something he wants.

Bianca blinked, waiting for him to explain. She was an excellent personal assistant, but how was she going to help this deal go through? When the alpha didn’t say anything else, she shifted her weight and crossed her arms over her chest. What does he want?

    You.

She blinked again. He wants me to work for him?

No. He wants you as his mate. He’s requested permission to court you and then take you into his pack if you accept him. I told him I’d have to talk to you first.

Something in the alpha’s face made her ask, How did he react to that?

"He smirked at me and laughed. I asked him what was so funny. He said I didn’t need to talk to you. That all I had to do was get you to him. He’d do the convincing. The alpha’s nostrils flared. I may have growled at him and told him we aren’t like that. He then promised that he’d relent if you truly didn’t like him. But he seems quite confident you will."

Bianca smiled. So he’s old-fashioned about courtship?

Yes. You can think about it for a few days if you want to.

Did he say why he wants me? Or did he pick out several women and you’re approaching all of us one at a time?

He’s only interested in you. He made that quite clear.

I’d like to speak to him first. Tell him to call me.

Tristan whipped out his cell phone and dialed a number.

    "Are you calling him now?"

Tristan nodded. He said I was to call him right away if you wish to talk to him.

Bianca sank back down in her chair. All right, she said, though she didn’t feel all right at all. She remembered Daniel vividly. The monster of a man had taken up so much room in the elevator they’d had to leave two of his pack members waiting in the lobby when he’d arrived. He was handsome, yes, and his presence had left an unforgettable impression, but that didn’t mean she was interested in him.

She shifted in her chair, her body remembering his scent. She worked so closely with her own alpha she’d become used to his scent and presence, and he’d been mated for years so he no longer exuded the same pheromones he once had. But Daniel? His lack of a mate had been obvious to everyone around him, female and male alike.

Daniel? It’s Tristan. I’m with Bianca now, and she does wish to speak with you. Tristan paused to listen. "She will hear
