I was a software engineer in the 1990s. I used to have lunch with my wife, who worked at a mail center, every day. One day, I met a man named Bill who knew about companies and their stocks all over the world. His breadth of knowledge was impressive.

I was a typical young aspiring trader who started out by buying stocks with the price range of $1 to $10. While trading shares, I kept coming across articles about investing in options. It intrigued me because the returns that were being projected were disproportionately higher than what you would get if you executed a similar strategy with stocks.

I was eventually able to open a real trading account and start buying call options and put options like everyone else. I didn't have a strategy, but I just started buying call options on companies because I felt the stock price should go up. Within six months, my account grew from $10,000 to $100,000.
