About this ebook

The author is in his eighth decade of life and claims to have found the key to the issues that have occupied him since childhood. As a regular-ordinary individual, he has concluded that his observations can apply to all others, regardless of circumstance or environment in which they might find themselves. His inquiries and experiences have suggested that most are hollow and void inside, but don’t recognize it because they are filled with stories and concepts that came from outside their selves. These foreign-social notions, when compared with what he or she feels inside, lead to angst and frustration when confronting life. The Sapientific Method gives the individual tools to clear things up and basically start life anew by filling the self with his or her own storyline that enables a new reinterpreted view of the world. This is what being born again means.

Author

Jerome Jacob Rappoport

Having been born in 1939, at the tail end of the depression and at the outset of WWII, seems to have placed the author at a particular place in time that just might have affected his outlook and reasoning. His sixth-grade teacher referred to him as “Jerry, Jerry quite contrary” and a Junior High teacher, when reacting to his written assignment, remarked, “My, aren’t you being superior to judge!” These unprofessional comments only stiffened his resolve to continue on pursuing his way of looking at things despite their opinions. Things finally came to a head for him in 1970, after successfully completing licenses and certifications as a Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor. This alter-ego experience did not resolve his internal uneasiness. So, he started recording his thoughts in journals that eventually led to his four volumes of The Equilibrium Texts some 53 years later. This fourth volume best encapsulates the intent of his endeavor.

    GΦD

"To understand GΦD, God, and G-d, one must first put aside the question of whether or not God actually exists or bequeaths life everlasting. These are deliberative questions for one’s self and only one’s self. Others have no answer except for what it is that they believe and why.

G-d is your creator and it is a plural term. G-d is your cells that actually created you. They want you to be healthy and to heal you when not, because their very existence depends upon it. It is that simple. Expand upon it if you must, but first ask your self, why?

God is your assumed provider and it is a plural term. Society is your God who usurps the role of God by taking pretentious responsibility for your wellbeing; even though it is a ploy. It is that simple. Expand upon it if you must, but first ask your self, why?

GΦD is a singular term and is the resultant enlightenment acquired by expending effort toward fully comprehending the operational dynamics of both God and G-d to the fullest extent of your ability. Know that GΦD is that which completes the void within. This definition is solely yours to accept, or not; but to expand this into a belief in GΦD is only yours to make if it satisfies paragraph one".

If you’re human, you wonder what life is all about. This author is no different, except this subject has consumed most of his life thinking about this very subject. Tasting what various philosophies and religions had to offer, left him desiring something different. So he ventured onto a different path, bringing along bits and pieces of wisdom he had gleaned from his former explorations. In so doing, he eventually developed The Sapientific Method which he found had significance and meaning that satisfied most of his inquiries to date.

Looking back over the last four volumes of The Equilibrium Texts can be best summed up in his own words:

Jesus said, Be in the world, not of it. Two issues become obvious with that statement. What world is he talking about? And, if not of this world, then to what world is he referring? The world that you are in is the same world that Jesus was in – the outer world – and only time, with all that that entails, is different. Now, the only other world that he could be referring to is your inner world. Therefore, you physically may have to be in the outer world, but you should spend your time and energy concentrating on your inner world.

The outer world is filled with the energy and thoughts of others, but the inner world should be filled with energy and thoughts that are entirely of your own development. Human thoughts and concepts are made up of words. Most, but not all, have had thoughts and concepts put in their inner world by those of the outer world. Therefore, what resides within isn’t yours, it’s theirs. So, it would be wise to rid one’s self of their stuff and begin moving in your stuff. Once you begin, you’ll find that little there is yours.

We know that there is an outer world and an inner world to which Jesus referred. We also know that both these worlds are full of words and ideas; most belonging to others and little – if the truth be known – belonging to you. How does one begin acquiring words and ideas that belong only to you, with which you can ruminate whilst in your inner world?

If you can accept the two-world concept, then it is strongly recommended that you also accept a third world concept as well to help you discern what’s yours from what’s theirs. To do this requires a third world to repair to so that you might get a different perspective; one that is superior to the other two because they are faulted. Why faulted? Because they are created by words and words represent both that which is and that which is not; thus they can never encompass the full character of actual reality.

This third world needs to be an extremely foreign world so that the flaws of the other two worlds can stand out and be obvious. This alien world was designed by nature (or you could also call it GΦD), and it was terrible, ruthless and unforgiving; but only if humans were there to make judgments. You see, with no words, no judgments are possible. In such a world you can only know the truth that it is what it is, not why it is. So, you are going to have to be extra careful when in this third world, evaluating the outer world, while trying to assimilate what is being observed for future reference once back in the inner world.

Without humans, it’s a very alien world, so you are going to have to read up on it to get a flavor of what has gone on there during its time. You see, it is the Earth itself, only millions of years ago prior to man ever having spoken the first word and where humans do not yet exist. Bear in mind that the only thing differentiating man from human is that man has yet to have uttered a word. Once done, humans were now on the scene and we don’t want to have words contaminate the prehistoric world with which you are to become acquainted and have to contend.

With all three worlds established in your mind, and the recognition that you are human, you are going to have to mentally be able to be in the third world, but remember to be there without words (next to impossible). Only then will you be able to establish the appropriate reaction when comparing your view of the outer world with that of the absolutism of the prehistoric world. The difference will not only be fearful and shocking, it will also be magnificent and marvelous. Your modern mind will opt for one world, yet not the other, but you must not allow that to happen because you must first know something about the Paleolithic world before you can ever make a reasoned choice.

Ask your self, Would you rather know truth or have peer acceptance? It’s that simple! Truth is found in the third world of actuality – it-is-what-it-is! Without wordy humans roaming around, there are no judgments being made that will stimulate change, and it will go on and on as is until some catastrophe alters it.

When in this ancient-actual world, looking at the current surreal-outer world to which Jesus was referring, remember, it was all the ideas, gadgets and concepts that the outer world was offering that caused him to crave the wilderness in order to clear his head of all that he was encountering there, and being offered by Satan, in his time. He couldn’t think straight when amongst all those others there in the world.

What you are facing now is really no different than what Jesus was facing then. You also need the wilderness for respite and a place to acquire an alternate point of view, just as he did. The world prior to humans has to be your new point of reference if you are to see and be able to accept things as they really-truly-actually are.

Religion, in its present form, seems to be waning when compared to the present wave of science and woke-ism. But the need that religion serves has not waned: it has only become muddled with woke thinking that has creped in with varying guises over the last few decades; and for various reasons – none of them important.

The scientific method has gone far toward clarifying thought where the physical world is concerned. It’s been so successful that to now think it can hold sway over the metaphysical world as well, is somewhat dubious.

What’s needed now is a new approach to thought regarding the metaphysical (inner) world. Ghouls, goblins, and creepy things that go bump in the night, have no place when making reference to the metaphysical world. Those need to be corralled in the world of fairy tales, fantasy, and fiction; so keeping them there will be quite a challenge because people like mixing metaphors.

Making this transition won’t be easy! Science needs only to be mindful of boundaries. Religion needs only to be mindful of those things that fly in the face of commonsense. The territory and scope claimed by science and religion has become so ingrained over time, that relinquishing it will be like pulling teeth unless something can infiltrate the mind of humanity that seemingly makes more sense.

A sapientific method, like the scientific method, is needed to form a path and a procedure that leads to a clarified thought process that can make a more reasoned sense of the metaphysical world. Science is a "group-think" operation where no one is allowed to move forward unless Simon says they can. Sapience is an I-think operation where forward movement is left to be determined by and for the individual alone.

These two theoretical philosophies, science and sapience, do not work together, but they can coordinate as one if territorial integrity is honored for the service they both perform and for the greater good of self and society.

Therefore, it is the intent of this work that a sapientific method be developed for individuals in need of discovering their own inner self which is capable of seeing that self being on par with society. Where there has been freedom of religion, there must also be freedom of sapient thought where the self is seen as sovereign and society seen as servant. This, of course, is in stark contrast to the surreality that we are presently experiencing in the outer world where up has become down, left has become right, and where right has become wrong. This leads to the dilemma we are now facing that must be overcome whilst meandering within our inner world with the best of intentions.

This is the dynamic that The Sapientific Method addresses and hopefully resolves. Those who follow and employ the scientific method do so with much focus, diligence and fortitude. Nothing less is expected from the practitioners of the sapientific method if it is to have any chance of becoming effective in the life of the individual.

Remember, everything begins with an empty self that is later permeated with society’s notions. This leaves the individual self void of any vestige of it’s self. Only by recognizing what has actually taken place can the individual ever hope to take any kind of remedial action that will resolve the egregious nature that has overcome humankind – the loss of self!

As was said earlier, it is this author’s own words that best described his intentions for this work. I have found the contents intriguing, as I’m sure you will as well. But, you’ll also find the effort to be challenging because he leaves the familiar in favor of something different which just might be all that is needed to cut through all the gobble-de-gook coming out of the palaces of education and the enlightenment of today’s world; and what a world it has become.

Lines from various Hollywood movies, from a time long past, seem to best capture the gist of this book, What a world, what a world... and Hang on to your hats boys, it’s going to be a bumpy ride. See if you don’t agree.

    PROLOGUE

Man is a bridge between the animal and the superman,

    a bridge across an abyss.

    Friedrich Nietzsche

How does one begin to summarize the plight of the human being? I suppose it would have to begin at the beginning.

Let’s cut to the chase and be honest by admitting that man, at his very core, is an animal and this man could not speak. He could utter sounds and if associated with an object that could be conveyed to another, then that alone is the beginning of language. That doesn’t make him human yet. He has to accumulate an immense vocabulary and begin to manipulate those words into sentences that begin to form images in his mind. Those images, when associated with other images begin to build a tower; a tower of intellect that enables him to become self aware. Now he has evolved into a human being, but not before all the aforementioned had been accomplished. How long, you might ask? Perhaps it took one-hundred thousand years or so. Who knows?

Along with this intellect he – and others – wanted structure beyond tribalism and so they developed the concept of civilization, a process of becoming civil. What this meant was they had to make up what they wanted to be and how they wanted to be. No more picking noses or doing-a-what comes naturally. Now it’s covering up or changing how they appeared, denying their naughty bits and pretending they no longer were animals but, perchance, demigods?

This meant that the actual world they lived in had to become a surreal world – which they maintained was the real world. That error has caused all the misery and grief in which they currently wallow. The resolution of this plight requires utilizing different words with different meanings and applying a different way of thinking to get at the root of things and turn it around and right side up.

That error, calling the surreal world real, is what needs correcting. But first it requires defining what a real world is and that requires developing a method and a technique that can illustrate how that’s to be done.

    ABSTRACT

Two words, science and sapience, one familiar and the other not, yet these two words seek to span the entirety of life. Science is knowledge derived experimentally that affirms and denotes your outer world reality. Sapience is knowledge derived experientially and denotes wisdom of both the inner and outer world realities. In this work sapience will become the tool that affirms the knowledge that will define your inner world reality. Having two tools are surely more effective when attempting to construct a more meaningful view of what truly is.

Human life is an enigma to most, and if not, then they are certainly deluded. No two humans experience life in the same way, nor is it interpreted by them equally; thus, the enigma. This intricate truth requires some means of reconciliation that leads to a need for a common storyline that will enable a congenial condition to exist between all of humanity. From out of this common tale that enables group cohesiveness, cooperation, coordination and collaboration, the bond becomes paramount and permeates the entire ethos of the community. Thus, the community eventually becomes more important than the individual. This leads to the individual becoming troubled by being placed in a controlled-subservient role. This, in turn, leads to a state of dis-ease within the individual which becomes a bane for the entire community. Resolution requires that an effort be made to balance the needs of the individual with those of society: for as long as this unequal inequity exists, the human bond will always be strained, challenged and placed in jeopardy.

A case in point: Society had a need to collect rare animals and put them on display (for educational purposes of course). This need was balanced by having to feed these confined animals, thus satisfying their need: a quid-pro-quo. However, the inequity is as follows: society gets a momentary thrill and the animals get a meal and incarcerated for life. Today the same kind of situation exists between society and individuals. Thus a sapient mind shall always seek a parallel between society and the common individual. When no equitable parallel exists, trouble is afoot and all pay a terrible price.

    A PARALLEL

You are GΦD; the fulcrum, the center of the universe. On one side is the Lord God (society) who is the one who makes provision for you. On the other side is the Living G-d (cells) who is, was, and always will be, your creator. You are the servant of your cells; it is you who provides for them. You look after the wellbeing of your cells, and society looks after your wellbeing; or so the story should go.

You are to society what cells are to you when in a balanced system. If you ingest more than your cells require of the wrong stuff, their system becomes clogged, sluggish and unhealthy. If your society does for you what you should do for yourself, then you become overindulged, resistant and slovenly. Is the current world a balanced system? Are society’s representatives public servants? Should they be? Are you a cellular servant? Should you be?

In your real world, cells work independently from you who are their servant. You, too, need to work independently from your servant. Owing to the cell, you, and society – all being inadequate when in their present circumstance and configuration – need a modicum of dependence to balance the system and place it in a state of semi-equilibrium. That’s why, on occasion, they, the cells, depend upon you to acquire nutrients for them; fight for them; take flight to keep them safe; and secure a place to safely allow them to power down and regenerate; they independently do all the rest to keep you conscious and healthy. So, what is it that you require of society – your servant?

Your servant, in the surreal world, needs to be on the same wavelength as you, in the real world. You, like your cells, independently need to do most everything you can for your self. Once a need arises, you must first inquire of your self if it is something you really need to do for your self? Only if you are disabled and can’t, should you solicit help from outside your self. When your cells send you a request for food (hunger), do you react by asking, "Do you really need me to do it now?" Likewise, you wouldn’t expect your social servant to drag their heels when you need (want) assistance. But they do! Don’t they? And so do you!

You have a right to expect a positive response from society, but only after you independently have done all you can do to maintain your self. Only when you are unable to feed your self, unable to get away from an oppressor, or when without a shelter, should you look to society for succor and solace. God (society), by social contract, is obligated to assist you; as are you obligated to assist your cells. Your cells have need of you because they’ve done all that they can do and that is no longer sufficient to keep you going or conscious. Cells, you see, have no words to make excuses. For them it’s all or nothing, life or death. Only when living in a surreal world are expectations unreal.

Society can never be the agency used to address this problem because society can only be satisfied when being in the dominant role. However, modest effort has been made by society to enhance the illusion of the self’s significance and importance. That ruse seems to have reached its limit, so something else needs to be tried. That something must be the individual self – of the self, by the self and for the self.

The Sapientific Method was developed to center your mind between society and your cells. Only by so doing can you obtain true balance and equilibrium.
