Alittle girl was sitting in her blue crystal rocking chair in a blue room. Her eyes twinkled bright blue as she read and read her book. Her star mark on the bottom of her right eye glowed brighter and brighter as she read. Her long blonde hair swayed in the breeze that was rushing through her window. Her pages flipped a little in the breeze. As she read and read, magic filled the room from her glowing book, making the room shine brighter than it already was.

She paused for a minute to listen to the birds; they were tweeting a soft tune but a little sharper than usual. She caught a glimpse of the sky from her window. It was a light blue with a little bit of sparkle. Nothing much for normal humans but it was different for the little girl.

The little girl’s eyes flew open as she stared at the light blue sky. The birds that were tweeting looked very worried. The girl’s eyes grew so wide that they nearly touched her nose. She rushed out of her room and went down the crystal staircase with her thoughts all muddled up.

The magic is fading away! she yelled.

Rose, stop playing pranks on us, her parents said with a smile on their faces.

Her parents looked at her worried and panicked face. They knew at that moment that Rose was not lying. What happened? they asked, their smiles fading.

The sky isn’t sparkling anymore! she said.

Her parents rushed to the closest window to check on the sky. It was a light blue shade, just like Rose described it. Her parents’ eyes grew wider than Rose’s.

Rose’s parents turned on the crystal radio right next to the window. A song started playing, and Rose and Rose’s father looked confused. Her mother started blushing furiously. Rose and her dad looked at each other and started to laugh. Rose’s mum started to giggle and soon ended up laughing louder than ever.

The laughter soon died, however, when they turned the radio to the next switch. Her parents’ faces turned white with horror.

Only a little girl can save the Enchanted Forest. Her name is Roseanne Melody.

Rose’s parents’ faces were pale white. They looked at her and said, Will you do it?

Rose looked at their worried and terrified faces. Will I do it? she asked herself.

Rose thought long and hard looking at her parents’ puppy faces. She knew that the Enchanted Forest meant the whole world to her parents. They had grown up there and they lived there now. All their memories were there! If the Enchanted Forest was gone, there would be no memories of her parents’ childhood left.

Rose was a determined young girl so she would accept any challenge, even if the challenge resulted in death. Yes! she said at last, forcing a smile on her face—but deep inside, she knew this was going to be hard.

Rose’s parents lent her a map and a compass, and a bag packed to the brim with all her favourite food. The bag also included four water bottles and two sodas because no one knew how long she’d be on her mission. They led Rose out and wished her luck before they closed the doors.

Rose was so confused that tears burst into her eyes. What am I going to do? she asked.

    She curled into
