In the Shadow of My Pen
()
About this ebook
In the Shadow of my pen, I release the words from my soul.
When I pick up my pen to write, I never know where my pen will take me.
I included some prose in this collection because some stories take longer to tell.
I hope you will enjoy this new collection of my work.
Maggie Watson
Maggie was born in Cape Town, South Africa. She now lives in Scotland. She has CFS which is a very debilitating/unpredictable illness. She began writing in 2020 at the start of the Pandemic. At that point, she had no idea it would play such a huge part in her life as it does now! In 2021 she self-published her first collection of poetry and has since self-published four others. Her writing is now much more diverse than when she began. Maggie draws a lot on her life experiences when writing, so her poems can be raw. But she feels that makes her work more relatable to the reader. Her work has also been published by Gypsophila Zine, Glass Gates Publishing, Edge of Humanity and Spillwords Maggie is also a volunteer at Barnardos UK She enjoys walks in nature and solo travel. For more examples of her writing visit her blog. https://wordpress.com/home/poetrybymaggiewatson.uk

In the Shadow of My Pen - Maggie Watson
DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to my father.
I loved my parents dearly but I owe my resilience, strength and courage to the
bravest man I have ever known.
ANCHOR
When the seas were choppy and,
the storm clouds gathered,
father you were my anchor.
I was drowning in the seas of ill fate, and you were my anchor.
Delivered into your loving arms I was safe.
My guiding light when I became lost, you shone a beacon to illuminate my way.
When the angels came for you my world tore apart.
Father, my anchor.
Forever in my heart.
Until we meet again.
EPIGRAPH
In the End
(from Me and My Shadow)
Time does not heal.
Memories never fade.
The heart does not mend.
In the end, we only regret the words we never said.
FORE WARD
Bruised but not Broken
She is not damaged.
She is wounded.
Don’t let the bullet holes in her armour make you think she is weak.
When she speaks, it comes from her soul.
You can try to dive into her waters, but they are deep.
She is a warrior who will move mountains, cutting down anything that gets in her way.
If you decide to love her, stay and do it with all your heart or leave her be.
Her passion is a raging sea, not for cowards or unskilled sailors.
So take her or let her go.
Either way, she will still be strong, damaged, not broken, healing as she dances to the beat of her drum.
PREFACE
I don’t think that I have ever taken so long putting a collection together as I did with this one.
It has so many different layers to it, and unlike my previous collections, I have included some prose.
There are also some poems from
