About this ebook

She sought only to rescue herself, but the universe had a different plan; others could be saved too. In Buried Treasure: Unearth Your Golden Soul, Amakiasu Turpin-Howze shares universal laws and principles which transformed her personal trauma into life-giving waters. Her emotional distress drove her to take notes because, as she says, “I needed to hold on firmly to the wisdom of the ages. I needed something to soften the blow.”
Fast forward several months to her little notebook, now chock full of inspirational messages that carried Amakiasu through one of the most difficult periods of her life. With her grief easing, she thought, “Surely, I’m not alone. Personal trauma is part of the human journey. Some barely survive, while others are scarred for the duration. If these principles saved my life, maybe they can help someone else too.”
Those notes turned book, brim here with universal laws and principles that, if consciously applied, can catalyze the power within to elevate and enlighten us. They come from thought leaders, such as, Wayne Dyer, Eckhart Tolle, Neville Goddard, and Deepak Chopra. Their message is here for the taking. Amakiasu demonstrates and interprets many of these with stories and reflections from her life.
Buried Treasure: Unearth Your Golden Soul is a veritable treasure trove for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of what it means to be spiritual beings on this Earth plane. If it doesn’t inspire you, it will, at minimum, give you much food for thought and tools for better living.

A teacher of 30 years, Amakiasu spent much of her life seeking to reconcile her spiritual beliefs with the highly structured and bureaucratic demands of teaching. During her journey, from public to private and home school settings, she raised three children and navigated the hardships of marital relationships twice. These personal challenges, along with other bumps in the road, caused Amakiasu to go within, seeking solace, understanding, and strength through her beloved spiritual texts. Her “inward seeking” propelled her closer and closer to educational settings that placed children at the center of the curriculum and nourished them while doing so. Amakiasu culminated her teaching career in garden education, where the outdoor classroom brought her great joy and fulfillment. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia where she continues to enjoy gardening, writing, and creating programs for children.

    PREFACE

The meteorologists must have been on vacation (all of them), for I was hit by a tremendous storm when I least expected it. The waters had been tranquil, the breeze balmy and the landscape stunningly beautiful. Clear skies and sun-drenched vistas deceived me. I was caught off-guard, knocked off my feet and pummeled to the ground by gale force winds, debris flying and nothing upon which to hold (so I thought). My injuries were severe.

I have come to believe that emotional pain can be just as devastating as extreme physical pain and the road to recovery, as arduous, if not more so. Honestly, at the time of this writing, my recuperation and return to wholeness was still in progress. What I knew for sure, in those early months, after my husband’s abrupt and unexpected departure (from my second marriage) is that my healing would come from the world of Spirit and higher consciousness. In desperation, I gathered my most beloved spiritual texts, including Neville Goddard’s Awakened Imagination and Prayer, The Art of Believing; Deepak Chopra’s, numerous on-line talks and meditations; Florence Scovel Shinn’s Your Word is Your Wand; Wayne Dyer’s Wishes Fulfilled; The I Am Discourses, and the teachings of Adama Alaji.

As I read these works, and others, sometimes a particular passage or statement struck a chord and I knew, if I could grasp it at the soul level, my heartache would diminish. I wanted this more than anything, so I put some of these statements in a small notebook, then went one step further. I boldly wrote, in large black marker, the ones that really spoke to me on separate sheets of paper and hung them in strategic places in my bedroom; mostly where I could see them, as soon as I opened my eyes every morning. Yes, practically on the ceiling!

Ironically, many of the writings I was putting down had nothing to do with lost love or emotional pain directly, but rather, they carried the message of who we are and of what lies at our deepest core, as spiritual beings. I was therefore reminded of several profound truths:

    • Though sometimes impacted deeply by them, we are not our stories.

    • Circumstances change continuously, so being a witness, instead of an object of circumstance, is a far better choice.

    • The universe is benevolent.

    • We create
