During her journey, from public to...view moreA teacher of 30 years, Amakiasu spent much of her life seeking to reconcile her spiritual beliefs with the highly structured and bureaucratic demands of teaching. During her journey, from public to private and home school settings, she raised three children and navigated the hardships of marital relationships twice. These personal challenges, along with other bumps in the road, caused Amakiasu to go within, seeking solace, understanding, and strength through her beloved spiritual texts. Her “inward seeking” propelled her closer and closer to educational settings that placed children at the center of the curriculum and nourished them while doing so. Amakiasu culminated her teaching career in garden education, where the outdoor classroom brought her great joy and fulfillment. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia where she continues to enjoy gardening, writing, and creating programs for children.view less
