About this ebook
As the amoral art dealer heads to the Isle of Jersey, the author’s “comic invention and lacerating, politically incorrect humor are in brilliant form” (Publishers Weekly).
The Honorable Charlie Mortdecai—degenerate aristocrat and seasoned epicurean—has managed, somehow, to tarnish his already questionable reputation. Thanks to a few shady art deals, he’s been exiled from London. Together with his gadabout wife Johanna and his ex-con butler Jock, Mortdecai takes refuge in a country estate on the Channel Island of Jersey.
But what begins as a hedonistic interlude turns into a macabre manhunt. Through the haze of drunken locals and loathsome tourists, Charlie is out to expose a local rapist whose modus operandi bears a striking resemblance to that of a warlock from ancient British mythology known as “The Beast of Jersey.”

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Though the subject of rape is definitely not one for amusement, it’s the only sensible choice to make the plot of the third Mortdecai book work, though it tarnishes an all too easily worked out (for me at least) implausible plot filled with tangents. Still, I continue to love Mortdecai’s manservant/bodyguard, Jock, most of all, and if you’re one upset by politically incorrect classism and sexism, then none of these books are for you. Anyone who’s reached book three knows how antisocial and pretty much anti anything except booze, Mortdecai is. Take him as he is or don’t. There are some classic lines, as always. There are two other books (one finished by another writer when the author died and murmurs are only one is worth a read) but for the moment I’m unsure if this is where I will stop.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Bonfiglioli is a very clever writer, but this book was the end of reading him for me. A serial rapist is on the loose, and the main character is just so hateful toward the victims.....UGH. The humor is not humor when it's about how that slut deserved it, what what? This makes me very sad.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The third in the Charlie Mortdecai trilogy is good, and necessary devouring if you've started from the beginning, but still doesn't live up the the standard set by the original, Don't Point That Thing At Me.
