ASK THE BISHOP (Book One) - Rev. Bishop Clarence N. Williams
CHAPTER ONE
CHILDREN MAY NOT BE MINE
Dear Bishop Williams:
My childhood best friend of twenty years just admitted that he and my wife of ten years have been sexually active for the past ten years and my two sons may not be mine. I feel so betrayed and confused. What should I do. Paul in TCI
Dear Paul:
In this case, it is normal to feel confused and betrayed. Seek immediate DNA testing. Do not resort to violence, but talk with your wife to determine the position of your marriage. Immediately end the friendship with your best friend. Get directional professional pastoral counselling immediately. Ask the Saviour to help you.
WOMAN SLAPING MAN
Dear Bishop:
I am a 5’ 6 300 lbs woman and my husband of 5 years is 5’ 2
140 lbs. Two weeks ago, we had a serious argument about my weight when I hit him a powerful slap and damaged his face. I walked out of his house to my mother who tells me to go back to my husband. He has not called or tried to reach me, is he sending me a message? Big Jane in North
Dear Big Jane:
He is sending you a powerful message as per your powerful slap. Violence generates violence, hatred and separation. Don’t accept his no contact message. Call him, sincerely apologize and inform him that you are returning home. Jesus Christ has a powerful message for you too. Seek Him.
LOVELESS BRIDE FORCED TO MARRY
Dear Bishop:
I was seventeen years when I got pregnant and my mother made me married my 21-year-old boyfriend. It has been three years of marriage and I don’t love him anymore. What shall I do. Loveless Lucy in Nassau.
NOTHING BEATS PRAYER!
Dear Loveless Lucy:
Forced marriages seldom work. You really need professional pastoral counselling to determine if the marriage is solvable. In the interim, stay faithful and perform your wifely duties as best you can. Prayers do change things, persons and situations. You were too young to fully understand the total meaning of love and the responsibilities in a marriage. The Saviour is willing to help you.
SAY IT WITH CARE AND COMPASSION
CHAPTER TWO
HEART PROBLEMS IN THE FAMILY
Dear Bishop:
My 42-year-old mother died instantly of a massive heart attack. There are no heart problems in my immediate family. I am 27 and the first of 3 children. Do you think that I might have a problem? Rudy of Freeport
Dear Rudy:
Heart problems are not necessarily genetically related. Go to your GP first and then a Cardiologist for complete examinations and testing. Be sure that you are satisfied and follow any medical recommendations.
CHAPTER THREE
LOVE ANIMALS MORE THAN HUMAN
Dear Bishop Williams:
I am a twenty-five year women with a professional career and have always from a child deeply loved cats and dogs. I never had a boyfriend or a close girlfriend. I am more comfortable and love to be with my three dogs and three cats when I am not at work or church. Is something wrong with me? Animal lover in Abaco.
Dear animal lover in Abaco:
Animals can be your best friend, but you do need the friendship of human. I suspect that you love to be in control and rule others like your obedient animals. Find a church and become involved with helping the poor and needy. You most definitely need a proper balance of human and animals in your life. Jesus Christ balances all things.
POSSIBLY BROTHER AND SISTER?
Dear Bishop Williams:
I am a twenty-year old male whose family migrated from Jamaica to the Cayman Islands where I am attending College. Last week, at the College I met a twenty-year old female also from Jamaica who looks identical to me. When we introduced ourselves, our fathers have the same full names and surname but neither of us heard or knew of each other. Do you think our father was working overtime? How should we handle this? Father working overtime in Georgetown
Dear father working overtime in Georgetown: It looks as if your father was working overtime with double pay. Do not sound an alarm. Get DNA immediately before both of you approach your father. Jesus Christ has been working overtime for us too…. with no pay.
SHY WITH HIV
Dear Bishop Williams:
It was love at first sight when we met at a night club two months ago. I have been putting off intimacy because I am HIV positive. I have absolutely no signs. I am the picture of perfect health…. she thinks that I am a shy man. If I break the news, she will most definitely leave me. How long should I withhold my HIV status? Withholding from
