Rochanda Maxwell

Healing At Its Finest, is a collection of poems describing how Rochanda has battled with depression, what triggered it and how she overcomes it through a suitable process of healing for herself. These poems are merely reflections of her personal life experiences she has endured. This book is not a professional connotative advising the actual steps of healing, it is only an expression of Rochanda's individual healing journey. This collection of poems demonstrates how both believers and non-believers of God can heal from any hardships they embark on their own personal journeys. Healing At Its Finest displays passionate, captivating, emotive and inspiring poems for everyone in different walks of life to resonate with from Traumas, Love, Desires, Fear, Heartbreaks and Healing!

Healing At Its Finest - Rochanda Maxwell

    I

    STORY TELLER

Some stories aren't meant to be told.

    Shhh be quiet,

    Don't you say a word.

Some stories aren't meant to be told.

Here quick! Sweep it under the rug,

    Don't let them see.

Some stories aren't meant to be told.

    Hurry, hide! Someone is coming,

    Don't let them find it.

Some stories aren't meant to be told.

But if I don't speak then my mind will explode.

I need to get it out, yell, scream and shout.

Some stories aren't meant to be told,

But here is mine, loud, transparent, and bold.

I guess we'll see how this goes!

    I

    HOME SWEET HOME

They say home is where the heart is

But my heart just feels alone

If you can be easily kicked out

    Feel unhappy and all alone

    I wouldn't consider it a home

    If you can’t express yourself

    Hardly ever get much help

How could you feel at home?

They say home is where the heart is

But my heart just feels alone

    I

    TOUGH LOVE

When they show no love, it’s called tough.

You know when it’s mean heartless and rough?

When they justify not showing they care,

Making excuses for why they weren’t there.

When they pick you up then throw you down,

Stomp and ride you all around.

When they smile in your face then punch it black,

Buy you things then take it back.

When they show love but then make you hurt,

Make you feel lower than dirt.

When they show no love, it’s called tough,

You know when it’s mean heartless and rough?

    I

    ADOPTED

Not quite sure where we went wrong

Maybe we should have said I love you more

Perhaps we didn’t smile big enough

Suppose we didn’t say thank you enough

I’ll do what I can to make you stay

Please don’t leave; don’t go away

I gave away all my toys and I cut my hair

Please forgive me, this whole thing isn’t fair

I’ll grow up if that’s what you want me to do

I’ll do any and everything just for you

I really love to see you laugh and smile

I swear I’ll be a big girl for now

Not quite sure where we went wrong

Maybe we should have said I love you more

Perhaps we didn’t smile big enough

Suppose we didn’t say thank you enough

If not one thing, then all above

    Pleading for attention and love

    Desiring to make things right

Don’t have the strength to fuss or fight

When in need of something, you’d think of me

Then I’d do everything for you cheerfully

Hoping I made you happy and proud

But you still gave away all, if not your only child

    I

    LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON

The drug fiend gives birth to an addict

The suffering of one home passes down to the next

The neglected child becomes the child neglecter

Little did you know that someone was

    Following you

    Mimicking you

    Copying you

The alcoholic raises a family in a chaotic home

    The liar inspires them
