Chapter 1
A New Plan
CP, the fully-armored Time Cop, sat in the futuristic flying vehicle, which slightly resembled a sportscar, as it hurtled toward Earth. As he entered the atmosphere, the windshield seemed to ignite. He let go of the wheel and tapped his helmet. Engage auto pilot to des tination.
CP swiveled the chair toward the window. Captain’s log.
He sighed with regret. "Captain’s first log, from me, the new chief of the Time Police and sole remaining member. This situation all started because I was trying to save this kid, David Massie, from a Quantum Flux that caused him to cascade through different timelines and realities.
"Long story short, the person David and I relied on for strategic help—my mentor, the old chief—was really an imposter. He was a Dark Armored Figure disguised as the former chief, with tech strong enough to decimate the entire Time Police force. He manipulated David and me to destroy three reality gates: one in Delphi, Greece; one at the center of the Earth; and the other on the dark side of the moon.
"Thinking the Quantum Flux was solved, I dropped David off back in his own timeline. But as I approached the Time Police space station, I could tell something was wrong. On arrival, everyone had fallen to an unexpected threat: the Dark Armored Figure. I followed the trail of destruction left in his wake to find the Dark Armored Figure standing over my commanding officer, the former chief, in a red portal to the anti-reality.
"Before I could do anything, the portal closed. The Dark Armored Figure was gone, and the last thing my predecessor did as she lay on the floor, mortally injured by her own weapon, was give me a chrome flash drive. I’m going to see what’s on it, but first, I need to get David back before something bad happens. He’s been the epicenter of this chaos. Also, I made a vow to protect him.
So yeah, that sums it up. CP, the new captain of the Time Police, signing off.
CP turned toward the windshield and saw the vast blue ocean beneath him. He pulled back a lever in the center console and the vehicle sped off through the clouds.

David slumped in his seat as Mrs. Pendergast droned on about the history of the European crusades. He caught Rory’s eye and rolled his own. I’m just so happy everything’s back to normal. I can look forward to ending my last year here and going onto high school, but I might as well tell Rory what happened. You know, now that we’re safe.
He turned his attention back to the teacher, but Mrs. Pendergast had ceased talking. She was still, like a statue. The kid next to David had his hand suspended in the air.
No, no, no! What the heck is happening? Everything is supposed to be back to how it should be!
Whipping his head around, he noticed that no one was moving. Everything was once again frozen in time. David began to panic. As his heartbeat accelerated, so did the speed of his thoughts. This can’t be good. I thought we figured everything out. What’s happening now?
At the window, CP waved at David, gesturing for him to come outside. David let out a groan as he got up. Figures. I hope something didn’t go terribly wrong.
As he walked toward the door, Rory stood and threw up her hands in frustration. David! What is really happening? I can’t take any more of this crazy sci-fi stuff. First, we go through a bunch of realities, and now, time is frozen! Why can’t things be normal?
Don’t worry. Trust me; this stuff is not normal and equally difficult to get used to, but I’m no stranger to what’s happening here. I know that guy in the armor outside. He helped me fix this Quantum Flux issue with our reality and get back to our original one, or at least I thought so.
Look, I just wanna go back to normal and not have to be in bad realities anymore. Before, you disappeared, and I was left behind. It was terrible and seemed never-ending.
Yeah, I’m sorry you’ve been dragged into all this, but we will find a way out of this!
Well, no matter what, I’m not getting left behind again! So, you’re stuck with me.
Rory began to follow David.
I was just gonna say, I was definitely not gonna make the mistake of leaving you behind again.
David grinned as he held the door open.
Outside, CP paced back and forth, muttering to himself. Then he looked up and said, Whoa, hold up there. First, why aren’t you frozen in time, girl? And second, David, don’t you know this is supposed to be covert? We can’t just let anybody in the loop, if you know what I mean.
Well, that’s too bad, cause I’ve already told her most things. Plus, she was the one traveling through realities with me anyway. She just didn’t go on the adventure last time.
David crossed his arms.
Huh. It was hardly an adventure, more like a terrible epicenter of chaos and destruction,
CP said.
Rory said sarcastically, Well, too bad, ’cause you’re stuck with me now. Plus, I’m coming with you guys because I don’t want to,
she curved her fingers into air quotes as she mimicked David’s voice, ‘reality flux’ again.
CP sighed. Well, there’s really no time to argue. Welcome aboard.
He headed toward the parked vehicle.
David grabbed Rory’s hand and hustled after him. Wait, Ace, you didn’t even say what happened.
CP ran his hand over his helmet. We really messed up, kid. The Time Police Depot has basically been destroyed.
David’s jaw dropped. What?
Yeah, it’s a disaster, but I’m the chief now, so I think we’re in good hands. Plus, we have no choice but to keep moving forward.
How’d it happen?
David questioned.
"Ah, that . . . Well, while we destroyed all the reality gates, someone took advantage and took out all the Time Cops in the depot,
