In the midst of the lives we live daily, oftentimes unexpected curveballs enter into our airspace. Those moments not only affect us in the physical; they immerse themselv

    ENDORSEMENTS

Tiffany has written a must-read book for anyone looking for encouragement and guidance throughout the good and bad times, through any transitions life throws at you! Tiffany not only has a way with words but, through her authentic story, has a way of making you feel connected and seen in your own story. Read this book and glean all that you can from one of the strongest, most inspiring, determined, and hardest working people I have ever met.

    – Candice Poole, LPC, NCC

    Owner/Founder of Live Well Counseling

I have known Tiffany for 17 years. Her love for her husband and children is unconditional, her commitment to her family and friends unmeasurable, and her devotion to the Lord reveals an honesty and vulnerability that I have witnessed in few people. Tiffany’s life reflects Philippians 4:11-13. Life has taken her on a journey of want and abundance, of low valleys and high mountaintops. In her pursuit of happiness, she has learned that true peace is found in the pursuit of her Creator. I have also been so impressed with her ability to recreate herself. Whether she is working as a youth ministry coordinator, PR director, Executive Assistant, Real Estate agent, or entrepreneur, she infuses joy and peace into her work. She will be the first to admit she is not perfect, but the many lessons you will glean from reading her book are well worth your time.

    – Vanessa Abina,

    Global Christian Worker in France

The book The Power of the P: Pain is a book applicable to everyone in any season of life. It is inspiring, motivating, and to the point. Tiffany has always enjoyed writing and this is a must-read book and one to have on your shelf that you can read over and over as life does what life does.

    – Jose Presciado,

    Sales Manager Marriott Vacation Club

Tiffany writes to the heart of anyone seeking to understand the course their life has taken. The stories we carry are unique and purposeful. This book will guide you in starting a conversation with yourself as you endeavor to give the points of pain in your life a purpose. This book is both simple and insightful, a perfect runway setting the stage in your heart, as you reach for lasting change. Having known Tiffany for many years, I believe that the words of wisdom found here were fought hard for through prayerful surrender and authentic living. May you experience hope and find footing to stand on as you navigate these topics. Your life has intrinsic value, and this journey is worth every moment of effort.

    FOREWORD

A foreword to this book is not an easy one but understanding the author is something I know two-fold both personally and professionally. After reading this book, I had to put my professional hat on and I have discovered why I am personally with the author, Tiffany Cepeda. This book is not just about her although it references some things that are needed to explain a point, nor is this a typical book. This book is about the building blocks that we face; we all face throughout life, good, bad, and indifferent. I, myself have experienced all mentioned through my military service, my professional career, my upbringing, and my life, period. I understand the concept and definitely understand the power of pain, not just as the title says but in the hurdles, trials, and tribulations life has brought unto me before I met the author. Life always has its ups and downs. I’m sure you’ve heard that life can be a rollercoaster, however it sure can be different than just going along for the ride; it can be painful, it can be demotivating, but sometimes through all of that it makes you come to realize your strengths and weaknesses. That can bring you to a place of no return. Again, that can be described as good, bad, or indifferent.

It’s unfortunate that the emotional pain we experience in life has to happen but what I can appreciate from Tiffany is her genuineness and her transparency in showing not only her examples of her own rollercoaster but how that rollercoaster was not ridden by herself but has met many that have experienced similar if not, worse situations in life. I have found myself challenged in that realization but am excited on how this book has helped me and many others educate themselves in the growth through that pain. I challenge you to discover how Tiffany has made this book personal, not just for herself, but for those she hasn’t even met yet knows have experienced pain in a similar good, bad, or indifferent manner. Blessings to you as the reader and I know without a question of a doubt there is more to your power struggles than meets the eye.

    Happy reading,

    Nelson Cepeda

    INTRODUCTION

After approximately two decades of being in the counseling field, I believe the most fascinating aspect of it all has been witnessing the raw courage of the clients who walk through my door. No one wants to look too deeply into their own soul. After all, that might mean they have to change. And change is hard. Change is frightening. It’s leaving the familiar and walking into unchartered territory. As human beings, we are wired to gravitate toward the familiar. Even if those familiar behaviors, attitudes, and relationships are not healthy.

Our unconscious mind learns from our past experiences. It is constantly looking for patterns and ways that it can ‘help us out’ so that we don’t have to work too hard. This means that when our unconscious mind notices a pattern, whether it’s a behavior or an emotional response to an experience, it will form what is called an ‘unconscious meta-program.’ That way, when that same experience or a very similar experience occurs again, our unconscious mind will take over for us. Now this is not always a bad thing. Think about driving home from work or the grocery store. You don’t have to cognitively think, ‘turn right and go 2.1 miles to the traffic light. Then turn left and make another left at the 7-11, etc.’ You just drive home. You can call your friend or sing along to some music or plan what you might be doing for dinner all while your unconscious meta-program drives you home. Pretty cool, right? Well, not so cool when you form an unconscious meta-program that tells you to eat for comfort, isolate yourself for protection, or to fall ‘in love’
