CHAPTER 1
Someday I will learn that when I think I am having an uneventful night, it never turns out that way. Just flat never.
My night started at the Golden Nugget poker room in downtown Las Vegas. I hadn’t visited that room for maybe six months, but it was a good room and I sort of felt, as Poker Boy, a superhero of poker, I should visit all the poker rooms in Vegas at least a couple times a year. And all the ones in California, Oregon, and Nevada at least once a year. Some nights I jumped from two or three of the small rooms, spending an hour in each.
The Golden Nugget room held eighteen tables and three times a day had some sort of tournament going on three of those tables. It had a low ceiling, like most older hotel poker rooms, and was decorated in dark mahogany, with a dark carpet and lighter
